Description

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with at least 2 years of experience in C-sections and OB procedures for a Women's Health and OB Services unit position.

Details

Work in a Women's Health and OB Services unit within a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center hospital
Unit features 12 LDRP beds, 2 triage rooms, 2 ORs, and a 10-bed Level II NICU
Average census of 60-80 births per month
Patient population primarily 32 weeks gestation and above, mostly lower risk pregnancies
Common conditions include hypertension, magnesium administration, substance abuse medication management, elevated BMI, and diabetes
12-hour evening shifts from 1845-0715
36 standard hours per week
Weekend rotation every 4th weekend
Holiday coverage required every other holiday
On-call requirements for OB Surg Techs include 4-6 overnight shifts within a six-week period with a 30-minute response time
No floating required
EPIC EMR used, preferred for RNs

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of surgical technologist experience required
Must be competent with C-sections and OB procedures
Preferred experience with post-women's surgeries
BLS certification required
CST certification not required
Active license required, if applicable
Proficient in assisting with vaginal deliveries and C-sections
Experience with CNA-type tasks including stocking rooms and assisting patients with ADLs
Knowledge of aseptic surgical technique and preparation of surgical materials, supplies, and equipment
Experience assisting with newborn care within 24 hours post-delivery
Familiarity with OBGYN surgeries, including occasional tubal ligation
Basic computer proficiency and strong interpersonal/customer service skills
First-time travelers will be considered for this position

Additional Information

Assist with C-sections and vaginal deliveries as part of the OB surgical team
Support newborn care during the first 24 hours post-delivery
Assist with OBGYN surgeries, including occasional tubal ligations
Perform CNA-type duties such as stocking rooms and helping patients with activities of daily living
Prepare and maintain aseptic surgical materials, supplies, and equipment
Work alongside a collaborative care team including RNs, charge nurses, anesthesia, NNPs, OBGYNs, respiratory therapy, and a lactation consultant
Charge nurse will take patients as part of team support
Team includes 2 surgical technologists on staff
Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation based on comfort level
Scrubs are provided
Free parking available
Schedule is created by the Lead RN in 6-week cycles, provided 2 weeks in advance
Requested time off (RTO) of up to 7 days may be approved
Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
Former Advocate Health employees must be separated from the organization for at least 12 months to be eligible
