SCHOOL MISSION AND VISION

Central Christian Academy is a Christ-centered learning community empowering youth from underserved families in Indianapolis and the surrounding area. CCA trains and prepares students to succeed in life by providing a Christ-centered education that cultivates a Biblical worldview. We recognize that each child is uniquely gifted by God, and we are committed to helping students discover their strengths, set meaningful goals, and pursue academic and spiritual success. The Lower School program serves approximately 100 students in grades K–5.

POSITION SUMMARY

An elementary (K-6th) teacher plays a foundational role in shaping a child’s early learning experiences by promoting intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. This educator creates a Christ-centered, structured, and developmentally appropriate environment that supports children’s exploration of academic concepts, character formation, and faith development. An effective CCA teacher integrates biblical truth into all subject areas, including literacy, math, science, social studies, Bible, and the arts.

POSITION OBJECTIVES

Teacher is responsible for:

Delivering biblically integrated instruction aligned with the school’s mission and curriculum
Supporting the whole child: spiritually, emotionally, physically, and cognitively
Creating a Christ-centered, safe, and joyful classroom community
Collaborating with families, staff, and administration to ensure each child’s success

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, or related field
Valid Indiana teaching license (or eligible for licensure through Transition to Teaching)ACSI certification required (or willingness to obtain within the first year)
Experience working with young children preferred

Excellent classroom management and organization skills
Creative, engaging, and developmentally appropriate instructional techniques
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children and adults
Ability to adapt instruction based on individual student needs
Strong commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Model Christ-like character in word and action
Plan and deliver engaging lessons with biblical integration across subject areas
Establish a warm and predictable classroom routine and environment
Monitor and support each child’s progress toward developmental and academic benchmarks
Provide consistent, kind, and age-appropriate classroom management
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and behavior
Maintain accurate records, including attendance, assessments, and student reports
Collaborate with grade-level teams and participate in professional development
Prepare substitute plans as needed and attend all staff meetings and school events
Supervise students during arrival/dismissal, lunch, and recess
Promote a love of learning and a foundational understanding of God’s truth
Participate in curriculum review and material selection, as appropriate
Uphold all policies and expectations outlined in the employee handbook

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Able to stand, sit, bend, and move throughout the classroom for extended periods
Must be able to engage with young children at their level (e.g., sitting on the floor)
Able to assist with arrival, dismissal, and recess duties (indoors and outdoors)
Capable of lifting or assisting children for safety and health reasons
Able to use a computer and classroom technology as needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Classroom setting with periods of outdoor supervision
Exposure to noise levels consistent with young children
Periodic off-campus duties (e.g., field trips)
Variable temperatures during outdoor activities
