Better Built Machines (Shelbyville, KY) | Full-Time | On-Site | Marketing & Creative
Better Built Machines (BBM) is a fast-growing U.S. manufacturer of high-end CNC machinery built with American pride, innovation, and unmatched craftsmanship. We are seeking a talented, detail-obsessed Graphic Designer to take hands-on creative ownership of our visual identity across digital, print, and large-format media as we scale our brand nationwide.
Position Overview
The Graphic Designer is the creative engine behind BBM’s visual storytelling and document standardization. This role is responsible for executing clean, high-impact designs for technical sales collateral, digital marketing assets, trade show graphics, and product literature. Working closely with sales, marketing, and engineering, the Graphic Designer ensures that every brochure, spec sheet, presentation deck, and digital graphic reflects the precision, power, and premium craftsmanship of our industrial machinery.
The ideal candidate is a layout and typography expert with a sharp eye for modern industrial aesthetics, comfortable translating complex technical machine data into visually engaging, customer-ready collateral.
This position focuses on document design, brand style enforcement, marketing asset production, and digital media creation.
Key Responsibilities
Video Production & Post-Production
- Machine & Promo Video Editing: Edit high-quality, dynamic video content—including machine walk-throughs, feature highlights, factory build footage, customer stories, and event recaps.
- Motion Graphics & Titles: Create polished animated lower thirds, title cards, callout callipers/graphics highlighting machine specs, and intro/outro motion graphics that align with BBM brand standards.
- Audio & Color Polishing: Perform audio cleanup, sound design/mixing, and color grading to ensure all video deliverables look and sound cinematic and professional.
- Short-Form & Social Cuts: Repurpose long-form machine footage into high-converting short-form video clips optimized for LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, Instagram, and digital advertising.
Collateral Design & Document Layout
- Technical & Sales Collateral: Design publication-ready product brochures, multi-page machine spec sheets, customer proposal templates, slide decks, and one-pagers in InDesign and Acrobat Pro.
- Brand Style Enforcement: Apply and police BBM Brand Guidelines across all assets, ensuring strict consistency in typography, color palettes (CMYK/RGB/HEX/Pantone), vector logo usage, and grid layouts.
- Internal & Operational Templates: Standardize internal company documentation, letterheads, price sheets, and visual standard work instructions for a cohesive corporate aesthetic.
Digital, Large-Format & Multimedia Assets
- Digital & Social Graphics: Create static and motion graphics for website landing pages, email marketing campaigns, digital ads, and social channels.
- Trade Show & Event Displays: Produce large-format artwork, including booth backdrops, retractable banners, hanging signs, machine badging/decals, and promotional print collateral.
- Asset Library Management: Organize and archive raw B-roll footage, finished video cuts, audio tracks, CAD renders, and high-resolution machine photography.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, or related field.
- Experience in industrial, equipment, or B2B manufacturing marketing.
- Experience with video editing (Premiere Pro / After Effects), product photography, or working with 3D CAD models/renders for graphic composition.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of professional graphic design experience (B2B, manufacturing, or agency experience preferred).
- Advanced mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro.
- Exceptional portfolio demonstrating strong typography, multi-page editorial layout design, grid structure, and vector illustration skills.
- Thorough technical understanding of print production processes (pre-press, bleed, resolution, color separation, and paper/material finishes) as well as digital optimization.
- Strong file management discipline with experience maintaining organized vector libraries and design templates.
