About the Role:
The Enterprise Architect enables business and IT leaders to make investment decisions that balance and prioritize current operational demands, disruptions, and opportunities with the organization’s longer-term strategic vision. Expertise in finance, coupled with knowledge of legacy systems and modern ERP platforms, will be instrumental in driving innovation and efficiency across our corporate technology landscape. The Enterprise Architect defines the technology strategy for the enterprise and the individual business domains based on Subway’s business strategy. Furthermore, the Enterprise Architect develops principles, standards, roadmaps, guidance, and best practices to effectively support the delivery of that technology.
Enterprise Architecture Strategy
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of the current technology landscape, including applications, infrastructure, data architecture, and integration points.
- Develop a strategic roadmap for modernizing corporate technology assets, prioritizing initiatives based on business value, risk, and feasibility.
- Work directly with business and IT leaders to understand long-term business needs and help them understand how technology tradeoffs influence strategy.
- Direct the research and evaluation of emerging technologies, industry, and market trends.
- Lead the development of enterprise architectures to support emerging business strategies.
- Develop and manage enterprise capability models & technology roadmaps.
Enterprise Architecture Development
- Develop and manage Enterprise Reference Architectures.
- Facilitate the co-creation of conceptual, logical, and physical architectures across cloud, network, security, and privacy.
- Develop and communicate Enterprise Architecture principles, standards and guidelines across IT delivery teams.
- Develop and maintain current & target state Enterprise Architectures.
- Develop and maintain Enterprise Architecture roadmaps.
Enterprise Architecture Governance
- Develop and communicate architectural policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Conduct project solution architecture assessments to ensure that the standards and best practices are being followed. Provide recommendations to address non-compliance items.
- Develop and maintain strategic technology evaluation and technical debt tracking processes.
- Lead Architecture Review Board and ensure that solutions are compliant with target-state architecture models.
- Actively participate in architecture communities of practice and workgroups for Subway functional (e.g. finance, digital, restaurant tech) and architecture domains (e.g. data, security, cloud infrastructure & operations).
Solution Development
- Coordinate with Solution Architects across IT domains to ensure alignment with target state architecture and partner with project teams to solve complex architectural challenges within the existing business constraints.
- Review project/product architectures and make design decisions collaboratively with the domain Solution Architects.
- Advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities.
- Collaborate with project/product management and IT leaders to ensure progress towards architectural alignment with project goals and requirements.
- Develop and promote best practices, patterns and reference implementations for application security.
- Support corporate and customer IAM platform architecture development.
Enterprise Architecture Reporting
- Report on progression of capabilities in relation to the future state architecture.
- Develop and report on the utilization of design patterns, re-usable services, and acceleration of velocity.
- Define and report on health of technology landscape.
Qualifications (some examples listed below):
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree required in Computer Science or related field; Master’s Degree preferred
- 10+ years of professional experience as a developer and/or manager in an Application, Systems, Database, or Integration Team in different industries
- 5+ years of experience working with system architecture from legacy, on-premise, web, cloud, and modern as-a-service with foundational technologies, and multiple (1,000s) outlets
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, including consulting and general industry experience
- 3+ years of experience managing staff preferred
- Deep understanding of corporate finance principles, including Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), general ledger management, and financial reporting
- Familiarity with modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud ERP, or Workday Financial Management
- Advanced level production-proven technical competency in one of the major enterprise development platforms (.NET, Java, etc.)
- Advanced level System Architecture and Design skills and experience
- Advanced level Systems Integration skills and experience
- Advanced interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate abstract concepts in verbal, written, and visual forms at most levels in the organization
- Ability to translate technical information into business language and concepts
- Ability to effectively collaborate in a geographically distributed environment
- Well-developed understanding of and appreciation for organizational mission, values, and goals and consistent application of this knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to develop technology strategies that support IT and business strategies
- Experience identifying, analyzing, and proposing IT investment opportunities
- Experience in the discovery, analysis, and application of industry trends
- Experience identifying, analyzing, and mitigating technology risks

Compensation: The base pay range for this role is $158,900- $198,600 annually
Pay within this range will be determined in good faith based on job-related factors, which may include skills, experience, education/training, location, and internal equity.
