Full Job Description

Position Purpose

The Consumer Loan Processor/Clerk provides dual support to branch staff and centralized underwriting by processing approved loan applications, completing all required documentation, and preparing and processing title and lien documents to transfer ownership or registering the credit union's interest in personal property used as collateral. This position ensures all loan paperwork and title filings are accurate, complete, and submitted to the appropriate agencies in accordance with credit union policies and applicable law.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Assumes responsibility for effective performance of all assigned loan processing and title clerk functions:

Process loan requests according to CCU policies and procedures.
Verify that all loan documents have been properly signed (loan agreements, lien documents, insurance) and are complete.
Prepare tax and title documents to transfer ownership of property or register the credit union's lien on collateral, including vehicles and other consumer moveable property.
Submit title and lien documents to the appropriate government office (e.g., Department of Motor Vehicles, Clerk of Court).
Verify that funds have been collected on loans before processing titles; confirm any outstanding balance owed.
Ensure accuracy of all documentation, double-checking critical data such as VINs, member names, and addresses.
Establish and maintain a tracking file of incomplete items requiring regular follow-through; contact members until all paperwork is complete.
File all documentation with the appropriate parish, state, or federal agency to protect the credit union's interest.
When all paperwork is complete, file in the member's master file.
Process and mail documents to appropriate agencies.
Perform general clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and copying.
Keep supervisor or lead processor informed of area activities and any significant problems.
Keep work areas clean and organized to always maintain a professional appearance.
Adhere to all compliance laws, regulations, and established Carter CU policies and procedures, including BSA and Anti-Money Laundering requirements.
Seek opportunities to enhance skills and value to the credit union and make suggestions for improvements.
Maintain a working knowledge of Carter Credit Union's operational policies and procedures, by-laws, organization, and philosophy.
Assist in any area as directed by supervisor.
