Evans Home Improvement is seeking an experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper & HR Manager to join our growing team.
We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented accounting professional who can take full ownership of our bookkeeping, financial records, QuickBooks management, and human resources processes.
This is a hands-on position for an experienced professional who can work independently with minimal training. The ideal candidate will have extensive QuickBooks knowledge, strong bookkeeping/accounting experience, and the ability to rebuild, organize, and maintain accurate financial records.
A major responsibility of this role will be to review, clean up, and completely rebuild our QuickBooks records for the entire year from the beginning to ensure accurate reporting, proper categorization, and a strong financial foundation moving forward.
This position will also oversee HR responsibilities, including employee records, onboarding, documentation, payroll support, and maintaining organized personnel processes.
Responsibilities Accounting & Bookkeeping (Primary Responsibility)
- Take full ownership of company bookkeeping and accounting processes.
- Rebuild and reorganize QuickBooks records for the entire year.
- Review, correct, and categorize financial transactions accurately.
- Maintain accurate income, expense, and financial records.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Perform account reconciliations.
- Assist with payroll processing and payroll reporting.
- Prepare financial reports and summaries for management.
- Monitor financial records for accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain organized accounting procedures.
- Ensure all financial information is maintained securely and confidentially.
Human Resources Management
- Manage employee records and personnel files.
- Oversee onboarding paperwork and employee documentation.
- Maintain HR policies, forms, and compliance records.
- Assist with payroll-related employee information.
- Support hiring processes, interviews, and employee communications.
- Maintain accurate attendance, timekeeping, and employment records.
- Provide guidance and organization for employee-related processes.
Office & Business Operations
- Maintain organized company records and documentation.
- Assist management with reporting, documentation, and operational needs.
- Communicate professionally with employees, vendors, and customers.
- Help improve systems and processes to increase efficiency.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding company, employee, and financial information.
Required Qualifications
- Previous professional bookkeeping/accounting experience required.
- Advanced QuickBooks experience required.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Experience managing financial records independently.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as an accountant, senior bookkeeper, or accounting manager.
- Experience managing bookkeeping for a construction, contracting, or service-based company.
- Human resources management experience.
- Payroll administration experience.
- Experience creating and improving accounting systems and procedures.
What We're Looking For

This is not an entry-level bookkeeping position and is not an administrative assistant role. We need an experienced professional who understands QuickBooks, accounting processes, financial organization, and employee management.
The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, detail-oriented, and confident working independently. They should be comfortable identifying issues, creating solutions, and helping establish efficient systems for a growing company.
