Intervention Specialist | Graduation Coach
Location: Remote (Ohio Statewide) with frequent travel throughout the region to meet with students and support in-person testing.
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 hours/week | 10-Month School Year
Salary: Starting from $55,000 – $65,000/year + benefits

Note: While this is primarily a remote role, team members must be available for frequent travel within Ohio to meet with students and assist with required state testing.
What You'll Do:
You’ll be responsible for delivering special education compliance and case management responsibilities related to documentation and timelines. Whether virtual or in-person, you will have the opportunity to develop genuine relationships that make the designed supports effective. Your role will include:
- IEP Professional: Develop, implement, monitor, and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student on your caseload in full compliance with IDEA and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce standards.
- Compliance Rockstar: Meet every IEP timeline without exception, interpreting Evaluation Team Reports, progress monitoring data, and state and classroom assessment results to establish meaningful, measurable IEP goals- while staying current on special education law and Ohio's compliance standards.
- Meeting Leader: Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings, coordinating all team members, meeting timelines, and ensuring complete and accurate documentation and participation throughout.
- Instruction Designer: Provide Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) tailored to each student's IEP goals — adapting content, methodology, and delivery to meet individual needs in a fully virtual, dropout prevention and recovery environment.
- Progress Monitor: Track and document IEP goal progress for each student on a schedule consistent with the student's IEP, differentiate instruction based on ongoing data, and report progress to families and team members in accordance with established timelines.
- Relationship Builder: Develop strong, consistent connections with each of your students through video calls, texts, virtual meetings, online communication tools, and in-person meetings as appropriate — going beyond IEP check-ins to build real trusting relationships so every student feels like they belong.
- Engagement Coach: Maintain consistent, intentional outreach that drives participation, accountability, and forward momentum. Students will succeed if they show up and work.
- Team Collaborator: Work closely with teachers, school leadership, and support staff to coordinate student success strategies and ensure IEP services are understood and delivered consistently.
- Future Navigator: Guide students toward employment opportunities, post-secondary education, and community resources as they prepare for life after graduation.
- Documentation Pro: Maintain organized, accurate, and up-to-date case notes, IEP documentation, student records, and communication logs using digital systems and in compliance with FERPA, IDEA, and district policy.
- Testing Support: Travel to approved testing locations to assist with proctoring required state assessments and ensure IEP-defined accommodations are properly implemented.
- Community Connector: Meet students in community locations when needed to strengthen engagement, build meaningful relationships, and connect them with wraparound services that support both their educational progress and life circumstances.
- Mission Champion: Support the school's mission by helping students overcome barriers, stay engaged, and ultimately earn their high school diploma prepared to successfully transition to postsecondary education, employment, military service, or independent adulthood.
Who You Are:
- A licensed special educator who genuinely enjoys the relationship side of this work — not just the compliance side.
- Comfortable meeting the compliance and paperwork requirements as an IS while also showing up as a coach and mentor for your students.
- Passionate about helping at-risk students ages 14–21 overcome barriers and graduate.
- Highly organized and self-directed — you will manage your student caseload’s IEP timelines, service delivery and a fully remote schedule.
- Emotionally intelligent with strong communication and motivational skills — you know how to meet students where they are.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable working in fully virtual environments with tools like Google Workspace, LMS platforms, and digital communication tools.
- Adaptable and resourceful — you problem-solve on the fly and stay consistent without someone looking over your shoulder.
- Experience supporting students in online or virtual learning environments is preferred but not required.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field
- Valid Ohio teaching license/certificate in Special Education (Intervention Specialist)
- Experience supporting at-risk high school students in roles such as Intervention Specialist, counselor, teacher, or behavioral specialist preferred.
- Experience working in a fully online education environment (virtual high school, online mentoring/tutoring, tele-counseling, etc.) preferred
- Strong working knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, specially designed instruction, and Ohio special education compliance standards
- Strong technology skills and experience with tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, learning management systems, and digital communication platforms
- Ability to maintain detailed documentation and case notes
- Satisfactory completion of Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and FBI criminal records checks in accordance with ORC 3319.39, as a condition of employment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for frequent in-state travel
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a virtual team
- Reliable high-speed internet for remote work

Application Question(s):
- This role is fully remote but requires regular regional travel — including community visits with students and travel to state testing sites where you’ll implement IEP accommodations. Are you comfortable with that expectation, and do you have reliable transportation?
- This isn't a strict 8–4 role. Occasionally you'll have an evening family call, need to test a student in the evening, or step in when a student needs support outside normal hours. It's not constant, but it happens. Are you comfortable with that?
