Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Information Technology (IT)/Desktop Support Technician to join our IT support team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software. This role is crucial in ensuring that our end-users have a seamless experience with their desktop environments. The Desktop Support Technician will work closely with various departments to resolve issues efficiently and effectively. The Information Technology (IT) Desktop Support Technician reports directly to the IT Manager. Assists with IT projects and supports the IT staff to assure continuity of service.

Duties

Provide first-level support for desktop-related issues and end user support
Assist with Help Desk Technician duties as needed, and serve as the first level support f¬or any issues the IT Help Desk; including but not limited to, hardware, software, and network connectivity.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to system/network/security issues and errors, computer management, including operating systems and applications
Provide on-site support for end user problems, and escalate issues further to administrative staff as needed
Find solutions to technically complex issues reported by end users, detected by monitoring, or escalated by the staff
Resolve technical problems with moderate technical complexity
Resolving Problems and Technical Skill Improvement
Cooperate with technical support companies to resolve problems
Manage user accounts and permissions through Active Directory.
Analyze system performance issues and implement solutions to enhance efficiency.
Create detailed trouble tickets using ticket tracking system
Required to take on tickets for Help Desk responsibilities
Review and respond to ticket tracking system (log), undertake priority tickets and troubleshoots end-user issues with systems, physical and virtual desktops, printers, and other technologies
Documentation and Quality Improvement
Participate in IT committees, projects and assignments
Customer friendly
Maintain documentation of support activities and resolutions for future reference.
Provide end user training and support as necessary
Communicate accurate information to the IT Manager on escalated problems
Initiate performance tuning functions for all software/hardware systems, as directed by IT Management
Be proactive in training and take initiative to gather and review Bank and IT training materials
Continue with education and technical training to acquire certifications/degrees relevant to current and future systems employed by First New Mexico Bank of Silver City
Review existing Knowledge Base documents and update as required
Create Knowledge Base documents for learned technical solutions
Create Knowledge Base documents for previously undocumented processes and procedures
Review current processes and communicate recommended changes to supervisor

Qualifications

Proven experience in IT support or desktop support roles.
Strong knowledge of computer hardware components and troubleshooting techniques.
Familiarity with TCP/IP networking concepts.
Proficiency in Active Directory for user account management.
Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot IT systems
Ability to analyze technical issues and provide effective solutions promptly.
Ability to apply logic and reasoning to quickly determine effective approaches to challenging problems
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to assist users effectively.
Ability to quickly grasp new concepts
Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

Education & Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or GED Certification
Three or more years of related experience and/or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Licensing & Certification Requirements:

Network + or A+ certifications are desired. Any additional IT certifications are a plus.
Valid New Mexico Driver License

Computer Equipment, Software, and Machinery Requirements:

Moderate expertise with Microsoft desktop OS is required.
Experience in the following is a plus: Microsoft environment, audio/video systems, and point of sale systems.

Essential Physical Requirements:

The job requires the ability to hear, sit, stand, talk, walk, see, and repetitively use hands.
The job requires the ability to bend over, crouch/stoop, drive, kneel, reach overheard and turn/twist.
The job requires the ability to carry and lift 1-25 lbs.
The job requires the ability to push/pull, carry, lift, slide and transfer 1-50+lbs.

Work Environment (inside/outside):

The duties are performed primarily indoor with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperatures, loud noises and confined spaces.
Must be willing to travel between branches (Los Lunas, Albuquerque and Silver City, NM) by plane and/or vehicle

Must pass a pre-employment background and credit check.
