The TV One Post Production Facility is an Avid Technology environment (Media Composer, Media Central Production Management, Nexis), with Telestream Vantage transcoding and Xendata LTO. The Post Production Facility Technician will assist the Post Production Engineer and the Manager of Technical Operations and Support in providing frontline support for this infrastructure, and will serve as the backup encoding and duplication technician.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and manage server performance, capacity planning, and storage utilization to ensure uninterrupted post-production operations
- Perform routine system health checks, firmware updates, and preventative maintenance on servers
- Support Kumulate/QualStar LTO Archiving operation by fulfilling offline media recalls, archiving deliverables and original media, and managing LTO tapes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for server configurations, workflows, and troubleshooting procedures
- Administer and maintain Avid Nexis shared storage environment, including user permissions, workspace allocation, and system optimization
- Troubleshoot and resolve advance server, and storage issues, escalating to vendors when necessary
- Back up and delete media from Avid Nexis
- Encoding and Duplication, using a variety of video files and tape formats
- Provide digitized files for non-linear editing
- Perform basic non-linear editing
- Process and review vendor timing sheets to verify accuracy and updating QC evaluation reports
- File creation, organization, and transcoding
- Embedding and organizing caption files using
- Organizing shows and promos in the internal library system
- Creating and encoding clips, seamless shows, and VOD
Performance of other production duties, as needed

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Experience working with common video file formats, including QuickTime, MXF, and MP4
- Foundational knowledge of video theory, production, and post-production workflows
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and workflow-related issues
- Strong proficiency in Windows environments; familiarity with macOS is a plus
- Advanced working knowledge of Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro
- Strong working knowledge of Telestream Vantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of CaptionMaker
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team setting
- Willingness to support additional production-related duties as needed
- Positive, team-oriented mindset with a focus on resolving technical and engineering challenges
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform effectively under pressure
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Compliance with all required Network and Urban One trainings and associated deadlines
