We are looking for a Sterilization Lead Associate that will support the Operations Manager in the efficient and compliant operation of the Sterilization Department. Responsibilities include assisting with documentation, employee scheduling, supervision, staff training, and the enforcement of safety and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. The role also involves programming and monitoring steam systems to ensure all customer specifications and regulatory requirements are met.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with and enforcement of all safety and GMP standards
- Monitor and ensure adherence to Critical Control Points (CCPs) in accordance with HACCP requirements
- Support the achievement of department productivity goals through effective training, supervision, and performance tracking
- Develop, document, and deliver training related to standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety, and productivity standards
- Configure and maintain product-specific steam chamber parameters
- Generate and manage labels and job documentation for steam processing
- Verify accuracy of pre- and post-sterilization product transfers
- Oversee and perform routine equipment maintenance
- Maintain accurate and detailed production and operational records
- Ensure proper execution of GMP procedures and compliance checks
- Coordinate with procurement to maintain adequate inventory of department supplies
- Prepare and compile weekly, monthly, and annual production reports
- Conduct boiler inspections as necessary to meet regulatory and jurisdictional requirements
- Ensure timely processing of priority and expedited orders
- Maintain comprehensive records of steam process deviations and resolutions
- Assist management with production scheduling and workforce planning based on operational needs
- Uphold responsibility for the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance (HACCP) of finished products
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in dry goods sterilization
- Boiler Operator Certificate or equivalent boiler operation experience, or demonstrated working knowledge of high-pressure steam systems
- Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and machinery used in sterilization operations
- Familiarity with departmental processes, GMP standards, and safety practices, including basic first aid procedures and applicable safety precautions
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and complete daily tasks according to established schedules
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet customer demand
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 kilograms and occasionally lift and/or move over 45 kilograms
- Requires close vision and the ability to adjust focus
