Medical Assistant

Direct Supervisor: Operations Manager

Job Summary:

While under the supervision of the Medical Provider, the Medical Assistant is responsible for taking vital signs, administering injections and medication, developing client care plans, assessing clients and more. The Medical Assistant position is credentialed by medical assisting schools in the State of practice. State laws determine the scope of practice for each of these professions. While there are many shared tasks, these professions require special skills and may require different levels of client interactions.

Job Duties:

· To work collaboratively within the Gameday environment to enhance the delivery of primary care services.

· Work in conjunction with the Medical Providers as appropriate to incorporate the Gameday process to provide client centered and outcomes-oriented care.

· Develop long-term, trusting relationships with both clients and peers in providing the primary care services of Gameday.

· Assist in the delivery of disease management and health promotion programs according to Gameday practice guidelines.

· Ensure the maintenance of accurate medical records as per policy.

· Assist in developing and implementing client self-management programs.

· Provide medical services to the client population in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures of Gameday, state and federal guidelines and regulations.

· Take medical histories.

· Perform Venipuncture

· Taking vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature and weight.

· Basic wound care including cleaning and bandaging injured areas.

· Administering medications as prescribed by a physician.

· Giving injections of medication as prescribed by a physician.

· Immunizations as prescribed by a physician.

· Entering information into computer systems.

· Scheduling client appointments.

· Keeping medical records current.

Job Requirements:

· Ability to use electronic medical records.

· Knowledge of current clinical principles and practices.

· Knowledge of medications, treatments, materials, supplies and equipment required.

· Be able to work in a team while respecting the views/opinions of others.

· Should have the ability to act responsibly, be accountable, and display excellent problem solving/critical thinking skills.

· Requires the ability to work independently and prioritize workload.

· Ability to carry out detailed instructions.

· Ability and willingness to treat all clients with kindness and consideration.

· Acts in a professional manner, reflecting the mission of Gameday and demonstrates compliance with all policy, procedures and federal/state regulations.

· Friendly personality with the desire to work with the public.

· Ability to relate to the public regardless or ethnic, religious, and economic status.

· Time may be spent sitting, standing, and/or working at a computer for long periods of time, which can lead to eye strain, hand strain and lower back pain.

· Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching and lifting throughout offices.

· Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity, and hand eye coordination.

· Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

· Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

Competencies, Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measurement.

· Ability to speak, read and write in English.

· Must display excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Skill in using computer programs and applications.

· Must have schedule flexibility, as well as proper attendance/punctuality.

· High School Diploma or GED.

· Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR).

· Have a current state issued license or certificate:

o Registered nurse (RN)

o Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist

· One (1) year of relevant clinical experience. (Preferred)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

BLS Certification (Preferred)
Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
