Are you a person who has found their way of life outside? Interested or engaged in a career utilizing your education and skills as a forester, forest technician, or forest resources / ecology professional? Would you like to work within an hour from Yosemite for part of the year, then the Grand Canyon, and later winter within a few hours of the Gulf Coast?
Each year, our foresters might be spending the summers in the open pines of northern Arizona and New Mexico, the large timber of the California Sierras and Oregon Cascades, the slopes and valleys of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, or Utah. Winters find them in the hardwood rich forests of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Deep East Texas.

Who Should Apply:
Former Forest Service, BLM or state employees with timber shop / silvicultural experience who are interested in further utilizing their skills to exponentially increase their income.

Graduates of an accredited forestry program, with or without work experience.
Those currently enrolled in a forestry program looking for seasonal work experience.
Anyone with work experience or education in timber cruising, timber marking or field studies.
Multiple positions and opportunities are available, with pay depending upon experience and qualifications.
Job Duties, Multiple Positions, Contract Types:
- Timber marking of all types.
- Timber cruising.
- Timber sale or other project type layout.
- GPS and GIS Data Collection and Data Management.
- Forest field measurements, data collection and management.
- Forest stand inventories.
- Stocking surveys.
- CSE Common Stand Exams.
- CFI Continuous Forest Inventory.
- Works in a crew environment, independently or with minimal supervision.
Top Tier Candidates Possess One or More of the Following:
Minimum of an accredited Bachelor's degree in Forestry or Natural Resources with an emphasis in Forestry, with related work experience.
or,
Former Forest Service, BLM or state employees with timber shop / silvicultural experience.
or,
Other related degrees considered with following work experience: a minimum two years in technical services forestry field work, tree mensuration, timber marking, timber cruising, sale layout and timber sale / project preparation.
or,
Ideal candidates hold current FS Regional Timber Cruiser Certification, Advanced Cruiser Certification or have the ready ability to acquire.
Other Considered Candidates:
Preliminary ability to identify and distinguish timber species and forest pathogens. Basic working knowledge of forest measurements and mensuration techniques. Timber marking experience is greatly preferred.
Emphasis given to candidates currently enrolled in or completed accredited Associates or BS Forestry program or Natural Resources with an emphasis in Forestry.
Highly motivated candidates with related degrees or those without a degree with forestry technician work experience considered, i.e. timber marking, timber cruising, botanical studies field work.
Requirements for All Candidates:
All candidates must have the ability to work unsupervised for long periods of time in isolated outdoor environments, are physically fit with ability to lift and carry heavy field packs for extended periods over rugged and uneven terrain.
Multi state travel required for some positions- intermountain, southwest, southeast and pacific regions. Single state regional positions available with weekday lodging / weekends home in Northern California, Oregon and Washington.
Near pavement and backcountry camping common during seasonal months.
SRP Forestry operates across large portions of the United States with crews providing forestry technical field services to include Timber Sale Layout, Timber Marking, Timber Cruising and Design, Field Inventories, Utilities Consultation, Forest Measurements, GPS and GIS Data Collection and Data Management, CSE Common Stand Exams, CFI Continuous Forest Inventory, FIA Forest Inventory and Analysis, as well as work on a variety of simple to complex forest management projects upon federal, state, tribal and privately owned land.
