Clinical Department Manager – Dental / Surgical

Towne Centre Family Dental is looking for an exceptional Clinical Department Manager to lead our dental assisting team and take ownership of the day-to-day operations of our clinical department.

This is not simply a Lead Dental Assistant position.

This is a leadership opportunity for someone who wants to help run the clinical side of a growing, advanced dental practice.

Why This Role Is Different

For more than 30 years, Towne Centre Family Dental has provided comprehensive dentistry to the Hillsborough community.

Today, our practice includes advanced implant dentistry, oral surgery, cosmetic and restorative dentistry, digital dentistry, Invisalign, and comprehensive family care.

We're looking for someone who can bring together the clinical skills of an experienced assistant with the organization and leadership skills of a manager.

You'll work closely with our doctors and Practice Administrator and have the authority and responsibility to help make our clinical department exceptional.

What You'll LeadClinical Team Leadership

Lead, support, and mentor our dental assisting team
Help train and onboard new Dental Assistants
Establish and maintain clinical systems and standards
Delegate responsibilities and follow through on results
Help assistants improve their clinical skills, efficiency, and confidence
Maintain a positive, accountable clinical culture
Identify problems and help solve them before they affect the patient or the schedule
Work closely with doctors and management to continually improve clinical operations

Surgical & Advanced Dentistry

Provide high-level chairside assistance when needed
Support dental implant and oral surgery procedures
Coordinate surgical setups, instrumentation, and materials
Maintain surgical supplies and equipment
Help establish efficient surgical workflows and protocols
Support complex restorative and cosmetic cases
Ensure the clinical team is prepared for advanced procedures

A strong surgical or oral surgery assisting background is highly desirable.

Implant Inventory & Supplies

You'll take ownership of one of the most important behind-the-scenes areas of our clinical operation:

Manage dental implant inventory
Maintain appropriate implant components and surgical supplies
Track inventory and anticipate upcoming needs
Manage ordering of clinical supplies
Maintain relationships with vendors and representatives
Reduce unnecessary inventory and waste
Ensure materials are available when the doctors need them

Laboratory Case Management

Coordinate incoming and outgoing laboratory cases
Track cases and delivery dates
Verify cases are ready before scheduled patient appointments
Communicate with dental laboratories when necessary
Help coordinate complex restorative and implant cases
Prevent missing or delayed lab cases from disrupting the schedule

More Than Clinical Assisting

The ideal person for this position understands that a great clinical department doesn't happen by accident.

It requires leadership, systems, communication, preparation, and accountability.

You'll help create those systems and then make sure they work.

You'll have the opportunity to improve workflows, develop other assistants, introduce better systems, work with advanced technology, and have a meaningful voice in how the clinical department operates.

Who We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate has:

Significant Dental Assisting or Surgical Assisting experience
Strong oral surgery and/or dental implant experience preferred
Previous leadership or Lead Assistant experience
The ability to lead, coach, and hold others accountable
Excellent organizational skills
Strong communication skills
Confidence working directly with doctors
Experience managing clinical supplies and inventory
An understanding of dental laboratory workflow
Strong attention to detail
Comfort with technology and digital dentistry
A proactive, problem-solving mindset
The ability to see the bigger picture while still managing the details

Front-office experience is a plus.

Someone who understands both the clinical and administrative sides of a dental practice can be particularly successful in this position.
