Job Type: Full-Time Contract
Contract Dates: June 22, 2026 – June 25, 2027
Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Phlebotomist for a full-time contract opportunity in Stony Brook, NY. This position is responsible for collecting blood specimens, ensuring patient comfort and safety, maintaining specimen integrity, and supporting laboratory operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a hospital or laboratory setting and demonstrate strong patient interaction, specimen handling, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on patients of all ages
Properly label, process, and transport specimens according to established protocols
Verify patient information and maintain accurate documentation
Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and quality standards
Maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies
Provide professional and compassionate patient care during specimen collection
Collaborate with laboratory and clinical staff to support patient testing needs
Follow all organizational policies and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of one (1) year of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or laboratory setting
Current Phlebotomy Certification or Medical Assisting Certification
Strong communication and patient service skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Position Details

Full-time schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Long-term contract assignment through June 2027
Competitive hourly pay at $22.00 per hour
