Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Evenings and/or Weekends Medical Records and Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This vital role combines front desk patient service with comprehensive medical records management, ensuring seamless clinic operations during evening and weekend hours. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of medical documentation and health information systems. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care while working in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Duties

Greet patients professionally upon arrival, verify appointment schedules, and assist with check-in procedures using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
Manage patient registration, appointment scheduling, and rescheduling efficiently through medical office management software.
Review and organize medical records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies.
Handle incoming phone calls with courteous phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries and directing calls appropriately.
Collect and process medical collections, insurance information, and billing details in accordance with health insurance knowledge and Medicare guidelines.
Maintain electronic health records (EHR) with precise documentation review, coding (ICD-10, CPT), and data entry using systems like eClinicalWorks or other EMR platforms.
Support clinical staff by managing care plans documentation and assisting with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and typing using Microsoft Office tools.
Ensure clinic environment remains organized by managing filing systems, maintaining medical records confidentiality, and adhering to clinical confidentiality policies.

Skills

Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms.
Proficiency in medical coding (ICD-10, ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing processes.
Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management standards.
Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone communication and office etiquette.
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Prior clinic or hospital experience with familiarity in medical administrative support and front desk operations.
Competent in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, 10-key typing, filing systems, and electronic health records management.
Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review.
Knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare claims submission and care plan documentation.
Strong organizational skills complemented by clerical experience in a healthcare setting; dental office experience is a plus.
