WHY YOUR WORK MATTERS
Our model is built to remove the fragmentation patients often experience. As a PTA, you will work closely with Physical Therapists, orthopedic physicians, and other specialists to help patients move through their recovery with greater clarity, continuity, and confidence.
You will not simply carry out a treatment plan. You will observe, communicate, educate, encourage, and contribute meaningful clinical insight that helps the entire care team deliver better outcomes.
THE WORK
What you will own
- Partner with Physical Therapists to implement individualized plans of care and adjust treatment within your scope based on patient progress and clinical direction.
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, massage, traction, neuromuscular re-education, and other appropriate interventions within your scope of practice.
- Monitor patient response and progress, communicate meaningful observations to supervising Physical Therapists, and help the care team make informed decisions.
- Educate and coach patients so they understand their treatment, progress, and role in their recovery.
- Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation that supports continuity of care and appropriate reimbursement.
- Collaborate with Physical Therapists, orthopedic physicians, advanced practice providers, and rehabilitation team members.
- Support an organized, safe, efficient clinic environment and contribute to smooth patient flow.
- Create an exceptional patient experience grounded in grace, kindness, honor, respect, and clinical excellence.
HOW YOU WILL CONNECT ACROSS THE BUSINESS
Your onboarding includes time beyond your home clinic: a visit to at least one other clinic, the Ambulatory Surgery Center, and a half day at headquarters. You will meet executive leadership and learn how each headquarters function supports the clinics and patient experience.
You will also be assigned a mentor who exemplifies the Performance Ortho mission and values in practice. Your mentor, direct manager, and People Operations partner will support your 30-, 60-, and 90-day experience.
GROWTH AND OUTCOMES
What success looks like
First 30 days
Build relationships, learn clinical and documentation workflows, understand the full patient journey, and establish a clear development plan with your manager and mentor.
By 60 days
Confidently support an appropriate caseload within your scope, communicate reliably with supervising clinicians, and demonstrate consistent treatment, documentation, and patient-education habits.
By 90 days and beyond
Deliver safe, patient-centered care with sound clinical judgment; contribute to patient outcomes and experience; and identify meaningful opportunities to strengthen care, flow, or teamwork.
WHAT YOU BRING
Required
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current New Jersey Physical Therapist Assistant license, or eligibility to obtain it before the start date.
- Strong foundational knowledge of physical therapy principles and the ability to apply treatment techniques within your scope of practice.
- Clear, compassionate communication and a commitment to timely, accurate documentation.
- Clinical judgment, integrity, and a genuine desire to help people regain function and confidence.
Preferred
- Outpatient orthopedic or post-operative rehabilitation experience.
- Experience with therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, massage, traction, and neuromuscular re-education.
- Experience collaborating with Physical Therapists and multidisciplinary care teams.
