About Temple Israel of Boston

Temple Israel of Boston (“TI”) is widely recognized as the largest reform synagogue in New England, and it is one of the most prominent synagogues in the greater Boston area with 1,250 member families. Temple Israel is known for offering an array of Jewish experiences and cultural and social programming, including interfaith inclusion and social justice activism. We are committed to living Judaism together through discovery, dynamic spirituality, and righteous impact. For 175 years our congregation has been recognized as a national leader with a rich history of community engagement and generosity; we are seeking an audio visual professional to help us advance our mission and the connection we have to building a community, onsite and online, through our programming and events. This role focuses on managing the audio-visual setup and support for events while also assisting in other areas of the operations as needed for successful events and programs. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, adaptable, and committed to providing exceptional service to our staff, clergy and rental contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

Audio-Visual (AV) Support:

Set up, operate, and maintain AV equipment, including projectors, microphones, sound systems, video conferencing tools, lighting, and displays.
Troubleshoot and resolve AV technical issues promptly to minimize disruptions during events.
Work closely with departments to ensure their AV needs are prepared and met, providing guidance on technology use and delivering a seamless experience.
Conduct pre-event equipment checks to ensure all systems are functioning correctly.
Maintain an inventory of AV equipment, coordinating repairs or replacements as needed.
Create, maintain and distribute documentation on how to use AV equipment with staff and hired support.
Train, hire, and schedule all additional AV staff as needed.

Event and Programs Support:

Collaborate with the program staff and event coordinator to ensure the successful execution of programs, meetings, and events.
Assist our facilities team with room setups and teardowns, including arranging furniture, signage, and other necessary items for events.
Provide on-site technical support during events to address any last-minute requests or issues.
Provide support to the Clergy team for all audio visual needs for worship services, specifically Friday evenings, bringing their vision to life.
Maintain and update documentation to share with staff and hired support as needed on all AV equipment.

Qualifications:

Experience in operating and maintaining AV systems in a professional setting, including comfort in sound engineering.
Basic knowledge of video editing (i.e., trimming video recordings).
Knowledge of video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Vimeo, YouTube), AV control systems, and troubleshooting common technical issues.
Familiarity with basic IT networking and connectivity for AV systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and vendors.
Physical ability to lift and move equipment and furniture as part of event setup.
Willingness to cross-train in other areas and contribute to a variety of tasks with a team oriented attitude.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for congregants, families, and guests.
