Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Solar Quality Assurance Manager to lead quality assurance, commissioning, and operations & maintenance (O&M) initiatives for utility-scale and commercial solar energy projects. This role is responsible for developing and enforcing quality standards, overseeing system commissioning, supporting O&M activities, and ensuring projects meet contractual, regulatory, and performance requirements. The ideal candidate is a technical leader with strong knowledge of photovoltaic (PV) systems, commissioning procedures, and renewable energy operations who is committed to continuous improvement and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and administer the company's Quality Assurance Program across solar projects.
Develop project-specific Quality Plans and Construction Control Documents (CCDs).
Conduct quality inspections, audits, and ensure compliance with project specifications and contract requirements.
Lead system commissioning activities, performance verification, and capacity testing.
Develop commissioning plans, witness test procedures, and energization plans.
Verify operation of Data Acquisition Systems (DAS), inverters, and related equipment.
Serve as the primary quality liaison between project teams, customers, and asset owners.
Support Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contracts through system monitoring, performance analysis, and troubleshooting.
Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for system deficiencies.
Coordinate with engineering, construction, and business development teams to improve project execution.
Maintain accurate quality, maintenance, inspection, and compliance documentation.
Promote continuous improvement through SOP development, lessons learned, and process enhancements.
Ensure strict compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and industry best practices.

Physical & Work Requirements

Ability to work in both office and active construction site environments.
Frequent regional travel to project sites is required.
Willingness to work outside normal business hours when project demands require.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to perform field inspections and support commissioning activities.
Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
Must be comfortable working in demanding field environments while maintaining a strong focus on safety.

Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience in Solar Energy, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
4–8 years of Quality Assurance experience within the renewable energy industry.
Minimum 2 years of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) experience supporting solar projects.
Experience with photovoltaic (PV) systems, commissioning, DAS, and SCADA systems.
Strong understanding of grid-tied, off-grid, and hybrid solar systems.
Knowledge of electrical testing procedures, NEC Code, and AHJ requirements.
Experience using Microsoft Office, ProjectSight, Smartsheet, and PowerTrack is preferred.
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, leadership, and technical documentation skills.
