Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Nourishing Nook including volunteer scheduling, member access, and gleaning donated food. This role ensures that individuals and families have consistent access to nutritious food while fostering community participation and reducing food waste. Please note the working hours as Monday 1.00pm-6.30pm, Tuesday 9.00am -12pm, Friday 1pm-630pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Oversee daily operations of the Nourishing Nook, including hours of operation, participant access and inventory organization.
Ensure a welcoming, safe, clean and dignified environment for all members.
Work with the Food Service Director to monitor and maintain compliance with food safety policies
Glean produce, discard expired items and maintain organization of products.
Assist in box breakdown, trash removal and organization of the Nourishing Nook
Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise volunteers supporting food access initiatives. Manage volunteer schedules for preservation parties, gleaning and nourishing nook access hours.
Provide ongoing coaching, support, and recognition to volunteers.
Assist in preservation parties as allowed, work with team on what the nook needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience volunteering or working with food banks and hunger-relief organizations.

Coordinating food donations from restaurants, grocery stores, farms, schools, or caterers. Collecting, transporting, sorting, or distributing donated food.

Managing food safety and handling procedures for donated food.

Organizing volunteers for food recovery or meal distribution programs.

Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations.

Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

Must have driver's license, clean driving record, and access to vehicle

Must be physically capable to set up program equipment and have the ability to hear and see activities and problems as they occur

ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT:

Employees and volunteers who do not directly supervise youth will:

Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.
Attend required abuse risk management training.
Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
