Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – Nights

Location: Santa Cruz, CA
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Shift: Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Per Week
Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Care Setting: Acute Care Hospital

We are currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU for an exciting travel nursing assignment in Santa Cruz, CA. This opportunity is ideal for experienced ICU nurses who are comfortable caring for high-acuity adult and pediatric patients, managing complex critical-care conditions, and working in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Position Details

Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU
Location: Santa Cruz, CA
Unit: Intensive Care Unit
Care Setting: Acute Care
Shift: Nights | 12-Hour Shifts
Shift Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend; may be required to fill gaps in the weekend schedule
Floating: First to Float; may float to Telemetry with a 1:4 ratio
EMR: Cerner
Call: May be required based on census/staffing. Must be within 30 minutes of the hospital with a 30-minute response time.

Requirements:

Active California RN license required at submission
Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
Current AHA BLS Certification
Current AHA ACLS Certification
Current NIHSS Certification
PALS Certification preferred
CCRN Certification preferred
Strong critical-care assessment and clinical judgment skills
Experience caring for high-acuity ICU patients
Ability to interpret telemetry and respond appropriately to rhythm changes
Willingness to float to Telemetry as required
Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients.
Perform detailed assessments and continuously monitor patients for changes in condition.
Manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation and advanced critical-care interventions.
Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms.
Administer medications, IV therapies, and critical-care treatments according to physician orders.
Collaborate with intensivists, physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary teams.
Manage complex patients requiring specialized therapies and close monitoring.
Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation using the Cerner EMR.
Provide patient and family education and emotional support.
Float to Telemetry as required based on staffing and patient-care needs.
Demonstrate strong teamwork, flexibility, and critical-thinking skills.
