The opportunity
A.W. Bergey & Sons is seeking a customer-focused Flooring Sales Estimator & Project Coordinator to guide residential and commercial customers from initial consultation through project completion. You will meet customers in their homes or businesses, understand their needs, measure the space, recommend appropriate flooring solutions, prepare accurate estimates, and coordinate with customers and installers once the project moves into installation.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving practical problems, and keeping projects organized. You will also support our Warehouse Manager with receiving, staging, inventory, and other warehouse activities when needed.
About A.W. Bergey & Sons
For more than seven decades, A.W. Bergey & Sons has helped homeowners and businesses in Harleysville and surrounding communities select and install quality flooring. Our team combines knowledgeable, personal service with skilled installation across carpet, hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl, tile, natural stone, and related products.
What you’ll do
- Meet with homeowners and business customers at their properties to understand project goals, preferences, budget, timing, and site conditions.
- Build trust through responsive, consultative service and guide customers toward flooring solutions that fit their space and needs.
- Measure rooms and project areas accurately; document layouts, substrate conditions, transitions, stairs, removal needs, access constraints, and other installation details.
- Develop clear, accurate, and timely estimates covering materials, labor, preparation, delivery, removal, and related project requirements.
- Explain proposals, answer questions, follow up consistently, and help customers make confident purchasing decisions.
- Maintain complete and organized project records, including measurements, selections, scope notes, pricing, customer approvals, and installation requirements.
- Coordinate project handoffs and serve as a key point of contact for customers, installers, vendors, and internal team members.
- Provide project oversight during installation by answering installer questions, resolving scope or site issues, communicating updates, and helping keep work on schedule.
- Follow up after installation to confirm customer satisfaction and address open items promptly and professionally.
- Support the Warehouse Manager as needed with receiving and inspecting material, organizing inventory, staging jobs, verifying orders, preparing installation materials, and maintaining a safe, orderly warehouse.
- Contribute wherever needed in a small-business environment and help improve the systems used to sell, estimate, schedule, and deliver projects.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in flooring sales, flooring estimating, flooring installation, interior finishes, building materials, or a related construction trade is strongly preferred.
- Strong customer-service and consultative sales skills, with the ability to listen carefully, explain options clearly, and follow through on commitments.
- Ability to take accurate field measurements, calculate quantities, and translate site conditions into a complete project scope and estimate.
- Working knowledge of common flooring products and installation requirements—or the aptitude and motivation to learn them quickly.
- Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail across multiple active opportunities and installation projects.
- Sound judgment and a calm, solutions-oriented approach when field conditions or customer needs change.
- Comfort using computers, email, spreadsheets, estimating software, and customer or project-management systems.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to customer locations throughout the local service area. Business-related gas and mileage will be reimbursed.
- Ability to work safely in customer homes, businesses, active installation sites, and a warehouse environment, including standing, walking, bending, and handling flooring samples or job materials.
What success looks like
- Customers receive timely, knowledgeable guidance and understand exactly what is included in their project.
- Measurements, scopes, and estimates are accurate, complete, and delivered promptly.
- Installers arrive with clear instructions, the right materials, and fast answers when questions arise.
- Projects move smoothly from sale through installation, with proactive communication and strong customer satisfaction.
- Warehouse and installation teams receive reliable support during busy periods.
Why join A.W. Bergey & Sons
- Join an established local company with more than 70 years of history and a strong reputation in the community.
- Take ownership of projects from initial conversation through finished installation—not just one step in the process.
- Work with a broad range of residential and commercial customers, flooring products, and project types.
- Be part of a close-knit team where responsiveness, craftsmanship, accountability, and practical problem-solving matter.
- Build a long-term career with meaningful customer relationships and visible impact on the company’s growth.
Compensation
