Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Automotive Service Writer to join our fast-paced automotive team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking vehicle repairs and maintenance, ensuring a seamless and positive service experience. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and auto estimating will help accurately assess vehicle issues, prepare detailed repair orders, and communicate effectively with both customers and technicians. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for automotive repair with exceptional customer service skills, driving customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Pay based on experience.

Duties

Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs
Conduct thorough vehicle inspections, utilizing estimating software and automotive diagnostics tools to identify issues
Prepare detailed repair estimates, including labor, parts, and additional services such as oil changes, brake repairs, suspension work, tire service, shocks & struts, transmissions, and collision repairs
Effectively upsell recommended services and maintenance packages to enhance vehicle performance and safety
Communicate clearly with customers about their vehicle’s condition, repair options, costs, and timelines
Collaborate with service technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of work
Handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining proper documentation of all services performed
Maintain comprehensive records of customer interactions, estimates, work orders, and follow-up communications

Experience

Proven experience as an automotive service writer or in a similar auto service management role within a dealership or repair shop environment
Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience as a service technician or mechanic preferred
Familiarity with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools such as Mitchell is highly desirable
Knowledge of automotive diagnostics across various systems including transmissions, suspension components, brakes, shocks & struts is essential
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
Experience in auto estimating, sales techniques including upselling services, and handling cash transactions effectively
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record to facilitate test drives or vehicle inspections
