What We're Looking For
We are seeking an experienced Senior Blaster to lead blasting operations on one of South Florida's largest infrastructure and restoration projects. The ideal candidate is a safety-focused leader with extensive production blasting experience, strong crew management skills, and a proven track record of executing complex blasting operations safely and efficiently.
This position is ideal for a Blaster-in-Charge who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience managing large-scale blasting programs while maintaining strict compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements.
Position Summary
The Senior Blaster is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all blasting activities while ensuring compliance with federal, state, project, and company requirements. This role will lead shot crews, manage explosives operations, monitor blast performance, and support project production goals.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as Blaster-in-Charge for daily blasting operations
- Plan, prepare, and execute controlled blasting activities
- Lead and supervise shot crews and blasting personnel
- Manage bulk emulsion loading operations, including gassed emulsions
- Implement vibration control and monitoring programs
- Review blast designs and make adjustments to meet production and environmental requirements
- Maintain blast logs, reports, and regulatory documentation
- Ensure compliance with ATF, OSHA, project-specific, and FES safety requirements
- Coordinate daily operations with drilling crews, project management, and field supervision
- Train, mentor, and develop crew members
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all operations
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience serving as a Blaster-in-Charge
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Controlled blasting
- Bulk emulsion explosives (gassed emulsions)
- Vibration control and monitoring
- Large-scale production blasting
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Safety-first mindset with a commitment to safe work practices
- Ability to work outdoors in demanding project environments
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-volume production blasting
- Experience on large civil, mining, quarry, or infrastructure projects
- Valid Florida Blaster License
Licensing Requirements
Must possess a valid Florida Blaster License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
