We provide a variety of programs, activities, and services designed to teach essential life and social skills that foster self-sufficiency and community integration.

Title: Residential Support Assistant (RSA) – Oak Tree Farm

Reports to: Chief Program Officer, Adam Law

Position Overview: The Residential Support Assistant (RSA) is responsible for promoting the health, safety, and well-being of residents within the Oak Tree Farm community. This position protects all company assets while providing emergency response support, conducting routine neighborhood patrols, performing wellness checks, and serving as a resource for residents who require assistance. The RSA helps maintain a safe, secure, and supportive living environment while encouraging resident independence and community engagement.

The RSA will work out of the Chapin Health and Wellness Center during assigned overnight shifts, typically from 7pm to 5am - Monday thru Thursday for up to 40 hours per week.

Overview of Responsibilities & Duties:

● Answer the after-hours phone respond promptly and effectively to resident emergencies, crises, and urgent support needs.

● Conduct routine patrols throughout the residential community to ensure the safety and security of residents, staff, visitors, and property.

● Perform wellness checks on residents as needed and document observations and outcomes.

● Serve as the first point of contact for after-hours resident concerns and emergencies.

● Coordinate with emergency responders, medical personnel, law enforcement, and other service providers when necessary.

● Monitor community grounds and facilities for safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or security issues and report findings appropriately.

● Provide support, guidance, and reassurance to residents during emergency situations or times of distress.

● Assist with implementing emergency preparedness and response procedures.

● Complete accurate and timely incident reports, activity logs, and other required documentation.

● Maintain effective communication with supervisors, team members, residents, and family members as appropriate.

● Support a positive community atmosphere by promoting respect, inclusion, and adherence to community policies.

● Ensure that buildings and pool area remain locked and secured at designated times.

● Ensure that “quiet hours” are respected by all community members.

● Ensure the Health and Wellness center is kept clean and complete cleaning checklist at least 1x per week.

● Provide group activities and/or classes during evening shift hours.

● Offer administrative support by making copies, filing documents, creating activities, etc.

● Maintain all confidential information regarding residents per HIPAA Guidelines.

● Follow all SOS Care policies and procedures per SOS Handbook.

● Maintain professional boundaries with all residents and parents/caregivers.

● Demonstrate all SOS Core values.

● Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

● High school diploma or GED required.

● Experience in direct support, residential services, security, emergency response, or a related field preferred.

● Experience working with adults with autism or intellectual/developmental disabilities

● Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

● Ability to pass background screenings as required.

● CPR & First Aid certifications preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.

● Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

● Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in emergency situations.

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

● Ability to work in time-sensitive and/or stressful situations.

Physical Requirements

● Ability to walk, stand, and patrol the community for extended periods.

● Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and assist residents when needed.

● Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.

● Ability to work evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

● Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while conducting patrols

Pay: Up to $34,000.00 per year
