Summary
Manage the physical operations of the hotel to maximize profitability and meet the expectations of total comfort and satisfaction of hotel guests.
Essential Functions
- Provides training; including safety training sand standard operation procedures to all front desk personnel as directed by management.
- Serves as a member of the Leadership Team, Manager on Duty (when required), and works with other management personnel to establish and implement hotel service standards to achieve maximum profitability and efficiency.
- Conducts oneself as a positive role model and example to staff.
- Maintains a “can do” and “guest first” attitude at all times.
- Practices efficient and effective procedures.
- Reads and understands English to comply with function directions.
- Assists General Manager in the selection of maintenance personnel.
- Schedules staff and work according to productivity standards and building needs.
- Supervises the work activities of the maintenance staff under the direction of the General Manager.
- Assists management staff of hotel in assuring maintenance staff is practicing efficient and effective procedures.
- Completes performance evaluations and reports to the GM to better understand areas of weakness in the department and plots strategies to overcome those challenges.
- Addresses guest complaints regarding equipment failures and maintenance needs.
- Takes report of any maintenance repairs, records repair information in maintenance log(s), and follows up to ensure the work has been completed.
- Assures requests are made in a timely manner.
- Monitors inventory to ensure a sufficient amount of necessary supplies are on hand.
- Utilizes Avendra program for ordering, receiving, and invoice tracking.
- Orders and receives supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Checks and performs minor and major repairs to refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and pool systems.
- Ensures the execution of the hotel’s preventative maintenance program according to Brand Standards.
- Monitors functions of the pool and spa. Administers chemical tests and chemicals as needed.
- Works with corporate project managers, engineers, and architects to discuss renovations and new construction.
- Works with outside contractors or suppliers to assure snow removal, trash removal, landscaping contracts are secured.
- Works with outside vendors to clean and maintain the fire safety system, kitchen vents and hoods, and chemical distribution systems for the pool, laundry, and housekeeping.
- Coordinates with appropriate authorities and government departments to ensure proper inspections are met and licenses are obtained and renewed as required.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: Two years of college or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering or plumbing and a minimum of three years of experience in a building maintenance department, including one year in a supervisory capacity
Language Ability: Ability to reach and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences and memos; Ability to write simple correspondences
Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, and percentages; Intermediate to advanced skills are used often including basic math, conversions, and measurements such as weight, volume, and pressure
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or chart/diagram form; Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
Computer Skills: A general knowledge of work processing and spreadsheet functions
Certificates and Licenses: No certifications needed
Age: Must be 18 or older.
