The Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University invites applications for a 9-month, renewable, non-tenure track Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in Microbiology, beginning August 15, 2026 or later. We seek a dedicated educator with a strong interest in undergraduate microbiology instruction. The Department is looking to expand our course offerings in environmental microbiology, and candidates with expertise in soil, marine, ecological, industrial, or bioremediation-focused areas are especially encouraged to apply.

Primary responsibilities during the academic year will include teaching in-person undergraduate courses with medium to large enrollments. These may include:
- Soil Microbiology
- Marine Microbiology
- Industrial Microbiology
- Introductory Microbiology
- Additional course(s) aligned with the candidate’s expertise
Additional responsibilities include:
- Designing and delivering effective course content
- Assessing student learning and providing constructive feedback
- Utilizing the Canvas learning management system
- Holding regular office hours to support student success
- Collaborating with colleagues to continuously improve the undergraduate experience
Opportunities may be available to teach in other areas, including:
- The online M.S. in Biological Sciences for Science Educators
- Summer courses (on-campus, online, or study abroad)
Lecturers are expected to participate in departmental service and engage in the broader academic life of the Department. The Department supports professional development and growth through the Lecturer promotion track (Lecturer Senior Lecturer Principal Lecturer).
