Full Job Description

Palermo’s Bakery is seeking a creative, collaborative, and hands-on Social Media & Content Coordinator to help manage and grow our presence across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, and other emerging platforms.

Palermo’s Bakery is a family-owned bakery established in 1989 and located in Little Ferry, New Jersey. Our business includes custom cakes, wedding cakes, specialty desserts, traditional bakery products, savory café offerings, seasonal collections, and wholesale products.

This is an in-person, hands-on position. The Social Media & Content Coordinator will regularly move throughout the bakery, café, cake decorating department, consultation areas, and production spaces to capture content as it happens.

The ideal candidate is creative, organized, trend-aware, and able to turn everyday bakery activity into engaging social media content. This person should be comfortable taking initiative, working with different departments, appearing on camera, and experimenting with Instagram Live, TikTok Live, and social-selling opportunities.

Responsibilities

Capture high-quality photos and videos throughout Palermo’s Bakery.

Create content featuring custom cakes, wedding cakes, cake decorating, pastries, cookies, cupcakes, desserts, seasonal products, savory café offerings, staff members, customer celebrations, and behind-the-scenes production.

Film and edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Stories, and other social media formats.

Write captions, select hashtags, choose appropriate or trending audio, and publish content across social media platforms.

Help create and maintain a consistent social media content calendar based on company priorities, holidays, promotions, product launches, and seasonal opportunities.

Develop creative, platform-specific content designed to increase brand awareness, engagement, customer inquiries, store traffic, and sales.

Photograph and film products using appropriate lighting, backgrounds, angles, styling, and props.

Create content that feels natural, authentic, visually appealing, and consistent with the Palermo’s Bakery brand.

Work closely with ownership, cake decorators, bakers, café employees, wedding consultants, customer service representatives, and other departments to identify content opportunities.

Collaborate with team members to brainstorm campaigns, promotional ideas, videos, recurring content series, and new ways to showcase the business.

Help employees feel comfortable participating in videos and provide basic direction while filming.

Help plan and participate in Instagram Live and TikTok Live broadcasts.

Be comfortable appearing on camera and speaking during live or recorded content.

Develop live-content ideas such as cake decorating demonstrations, bakery tours, new product showcases, tastings, employee interviews, holiday previews, and limited-time promotions.

Explore opportunities to promote and sell eligible Palermo’s Bakery products through TikTok Shop, Instagram shopping features, live selling, affiliate programs, and other social-commerce tools.

Monitor social media trends, platform updates, trending sounds, popular video formats, and emerging content opportunities.

Monitor and respond to comments, messages, tags, and customer-generated content in a timely and professional manner.

Engage with customers, wedding venues, event professionals, local businesses, food creators, influencers, and community organizations.

Help coordinate creator visits, product gifting, collaborations, giveaways, and local partnerships.

Maintain an organized library of photos, videos, graphics, captions, and completed content.

Track content performance, including views, reach, engagement, follower growth, inquiries, website traffic, store visits, and sales opportunities.

Use performance results to identify successful content and recommend improvements.

Assist with social media advertising, boosted posts, email marketing, website content, in-store promotions, and other marketing projects as needed.

Qualifications

Two or more years of experience in social media, content creation, digital marketing, photography, video production, or a related role is preferred.

Experience managing Instagram and TikTok accounts for a business, organization, or brand.

A portfolio or examples of photography, short-form video, Reels, TikToks, or other social media content are required.

Experience filming and editing vertical video using a smartphone, camera, or both.

Strong visual eye for food photography, composition, lighting, product styling, and storytelling.

Comfortable taking initiative and capturing content without needing every post or video to be fully directed.

Comfortable appearing on camera and participating in live or recorded content.

Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, and current social media trends.

Strong writing, grammar, caption-writing, and communication skills.

Organized and able to manage a content calendar, multiple projects, and competing deadlines.

Collaborative and able to work effectively with employees across different departments.

Receptive to feedback and able to revise content when necessary.

Reliable, professional, and comfortable working around customers, food preparation, active kitchens, and bakery production.

Experience in food, bakery, hospitality, restaurants, weddings, events, lifestyle, or consumer brands is strongly preferred.

Experience with TikTok Shop, Instagram shopping, social selling, influencer partnerships, live selling, or affiliate programs is a plus.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, photography, public relations, or a related field is preferred but not required. Relevant experience and a strong content portfolio may be considered in place of a degree.

Work Location and Schedule

This is an in-person position based at Palermo’s Bakery in Little Ferry, New Jersey. This is not a remote position.

The role requires regular movement throughout the bakery, café, cake decorating department, production areas, and other company spaces to capture content.

Availability for occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, special events, or off-site content opportunities may be required depending on seasonal production, promotions, and business needs.

The successful candidate will help Palermo’s Bakery consistently publish high-quality and engaging content, showcase all areas of the business, strengthen our brand personality, grow our social media audience, increase customer engagement, and turn social media attention into inquiries, store visits, and sales.
