Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and trauma-informed Case Manager to support women impacted by street-based sex trade and/or sex trafficking. This role requires a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by women experiencing housing instability, including women who may be actively using substances. The Case Manager will provide responsive, in-the-moment crisis case management and advocacy, meeting clients where they are—physically, emotionally, and psychologically. The ideal candidate will bring empathy, flexibility, and resilience, offer consistent support while navigating complex systems and fostering trust with clients who may have experienced significant trauma. The Case Manager must be client-focused, action-oriented, collaborative, and able to communicate effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.

Essential Duties:

Maintain a regular onsite presence at Sisters Program Drop-In Center, providing crisis and ongoing case management services.
Assist in ensuring the Drop-In Center provides a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for program participants.
Co-facilitate workshops, activities, and small group discussions with participants, fostering collaboration and engagement.
Conduct program orientation and intake sessions with new clients; enter intakes into agency database.
Work with interested clients to develop individual service plans with clear and achievable goals, demonstrating an action-oriented approach.
Meet with clients individually on a consistent and/or as-needed basis to identify needs, facilitate referrals to community resources, assist clients in working on established goals, and monitor progress.
Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and community partners to ensure coordinated care and support.
Complete all case file documentation accurately and within program grant requirements.
Support clients in achieving safer housing, including conducting housing assessments, assisting with paperwork, and facilitating apartment viewings.
Provide support and advocacy to clients involved in court processes under the supervision of the Program Manager.
Develop collaborative relationships with staff of other Benedict Center Programs and outside community agencies.
Attend program staff meetings, system partner staffings, in-service trainings, and staff development opportunities.
Provide hospitality services and warmly welcome all new program participants.
Maintain strong, nonjudgmental, and supportive relationships with program participants to address their basic needs and personal growth.
Empower participants to actively engage in program development, evaluation, and advocacy efforts.
Provide transportation and accompaniment to appointments and urgent legal, safety, and healthcare needs when possible.
Educate participants on their rights and protections as victims of crime.
Provide trauma-informed, culturally competent crisis intervention and emotional support.
Research resources and make intra-agency and community referrals aligned with client goals.
Collaborate with agency leaders and staff to ensure successful linkage to other Benedict Center programs.
Support and help supervise volunteers and interns, including Sisters Program participants.
Ensure timely and thorough data collection and program evaluation to demonstrate impact.
Meet regularly with Program Manager for supervision and support.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology or related areas preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience working in programs that serve women. Programs where women are actively using drugs/alcohol.
Able to read, write and speak Spanish fluently - preferred.
Ability to work well with women from diverse economic, racial, ethnic, gender and gender expression, sexual orientation, and religious backgrounds in an open and respectful environment.
Understanding of and commitment to harm reduction practice, trauma-informed care, self-reflection, accountability and cultural competencies.
Knowledge of mental health and substance use issues, and trauma-informed care practices specific to women preferred.
Commitment to utilizing evidence-based practices.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to mediate and resolve conflict constructively.
Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner.
Ability to foster an environment of teamwork with program and agency staff.
Computer literacy and experience with databases and excel worksheets.
A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation to transport clients at times and automobile insurance are required as local travel within Milwaukee County is a requirement.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience as a Peer Support Specialist

· Knowledge of mental health and substance use issues, and client treatment included trauma-informed care practices.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour
