Pastry Cook / Cake Decorator

Full-Time Position

We're seeking an experienced, talented, and dependable Pastry Cook/Cake Decorator to join our bakery team. This position is for someone who is passionate about pastry, takes pride in producing exceptional products, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume bakery. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly organized, creative, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and consistency.

Position Details

Full-Time Position
Schedule: Tuesday through Sunday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Days Off: Every Monday
Typical Hours: 40 hours per week
Pay: $14.00–$18.00 per hour, based on experience

Responsibilities

Prepare a wide variety of pastries, cakes, pies, breads, cookies, muffins, rolls, and other bakery products according to established recipes.
Produce fillings, mousses, buttercreams, ganaches, curds, and other pastry components.
Decorate single-tier and interested in multi-tier cakes for weddings, birthdays, and special events with a high level of craftsmanship.
Complete custom cake orders and retail products while maintaining exceptional quality and presentation.
Assist with daily production planning and efficiently prioritize tasks to meet production deadlines.
Communicate with the banquet department regarding upcoming functions and specialty orders.
Maintain consistency in product quality, flavor, portioning, and presentation.
Operate, clean, and maintain bakery equipment, including mixers, ovens, and decorating equipment.
Follow proper food safety, sanitation, labeling, and FIFO procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workstation throughout each shift.
Monitor inventory and communicate product shortages or equipment concerns to management.
Work collaboratively with the Pastry Chef while also being capable of working independently.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a pastry cook, baker, or cake decorator is strongly preferred.
Professional culinary or pastry education is a plus.
Strong cake decorating skills, experience with wedding cakes and custom celebration cakes is a plus.
Ability to produce high-quality products in a fast-paced production environment.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to consistency and presentation.
Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet production deadlines.
Dependable, reliable, and professional with a strong work ethic.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and frequently lift 50 pounds.
Weekend and holiday availability is required.
