People are more than just co-workers at PGI and it’s more than just another job here. It’s a calling, it’s a community, and it’s a career.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on Senior Web Development Manager to lead the engineering and evolution of our established, high-volume eCommerce platform. In this dual-capacity role, you will act as both a lead full-stack developer and a development team manager. You will take complete ownership of an enterprise platform running on the Microsoft ecosystem, overseeing legacy frameworks (.NET 5) while establishing architectural pathways for modernization. The ideal candidate has a deep software engineering background, including over a decade of database design and high-volume transaction processing experience. You will manage a cross-functional technical team, direct project timelines, establish quality standards, and interface directly with business executives to translate commercial strategy into scalable technical solutions.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Project Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all technical project statuses, system architectures, and engineering operations related to the eCommerce platform.
- Create, manage, and maintain technical project plans for core programming initiatives, defining deliverables, milestones, and realistic timelines.
- Lead regular design meetings, stand-ups, and project status reviews, providing ongoing visibility to executive department managers.
- Plan and manage website upgrades, hotfixes, and major functional releases.
- Coordinate requirements gathering, interface with the technical team, track deliverables, and manage user acceptance testing (UAT).
Hands-on Engineering & Code Quality
- Take direct ownership of critical application modules, object libraries, and third-party technology integration projects by writing clean, performant code and authoring technical specifications.
- Establish rigorous code review processes, technical standards, and quality management guidelines to ensure long-term maintainability.
- Diagnose architectural bottlenecks, manage high-traffic scaling issues, and mitigate runtime errors (such as 500/503 service spikes or SQL execution timeouts).
- Personally assist and mentor team members, unblocking complex algorithmic, database, or client-server technical problems.
System Integration & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with a diverse, cross-functional team—including Department Managers, Project Managers, Internet Programmers, UI/UX Interface Designers, Technical Writers, and Merchants—to build features aligned with strategic business goals.
- Act as the strategic liaison between internal and external MIS groups to implement, verify, and continuously improve system and database integrations.
- Partner with external systems architects to define, implement, and test hardware and software requirements.
Release Engineering, Change Control & Security
- Define, implement, and enforce strict software configuration and change control processes to guarantee the integrity and security of company intellectual property.
- Oversee the safe migration of application code through the entire lifecycle: Development, Staging, Pre-production, and Production environments.
- Periodically review, implement, and verify data security layers, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and payment processing (PCI) standards.
- Develop automated workflows, caching mechanisms, and deployment solutions that facilitate the rapid, efficient deployment of prototypes and stable deliverables.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on full-stack web development within enterprise, high-transaction environments.
- Proven experience managing or leading technical project teams within a Rapid Application Development (RAD) environment.
- Extensive experience building, scaling, and maintaining large-scale eCommerce platforms processing millions of transactions.
Backend & Database Architecture
- Expert-level mastery of SQL Server (T-SQL), including advanced stored procedures, database design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Deep proficiency in C# and VB.NET, with a clear track record of building server-side applications.
- Thorough production experience working with the Microsoft .NET ecosystem, specifically managing and maintaining legacy frameworks like .NET 5.
- Solid understanding of client-server comprehension, distributed systems, state management, and memory/data caching strategies.
Frontend & Integration Technologies
- Strong proficiency in foundational web technologies: JavaScript, JSON, and XML.
- Practical experience building responsive, enterprise user interfaces using Bootstrap and jQuery.
- Proven ability to integrate external systems (such as Order Management Systems (OMS), ERPs, and third-party marketing tools) using web services, RESTful APIs, and webhooks.
Soft Skills & Process Management
- Exceptional documentation skills, with the ability to turn complex business requirements into clear technical specifications, system diagrams, and workflows.
- Strong project management aptitude, with experience balancing resource allocation, risk management, and delivery deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical complexities into plain business language for cross-functional stakeholders.
