Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Automotive Body Shop Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately assessing vehicle damage, preparing detailed estimates, and providing exceptional service to our customers. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive repair processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Prior dealership experience and auto service management skills are highly valued.

Duties

Conduct thorough inspections of damaged vehicles to assess repair needs, including auto body repair, mechanical issues, transmissions, suspension, and tire services.
Prepare detailed repair estimates using industry-standard estimating software and communicate findings clearly to customers.
Collaborate with technicians and mechanics to determine repair feasibility and costs, including services such as oil changes, brake repairs, shocks & struts, alignments, air brake systems, diesel engine repairs, and more.
Upsell additional services when appropriate by explaining benefits to customers while maintaining high levels of customer service.
Manage service writing documentation accurately and efficiently throughout the repair process.
Handle vehicle diagnostics and provide recommendations for repairs based on mechanical knowledge and automotive diagnostics expertise.
Assist customers with vehicle maintenance advice and vehicle sales when applicable.
Process cash handling transactions securely and maintain accurate records of estimates and repairs performed.

Requirements

Proven experience in auto estimating, service writing, or automotive service management; dealership experience is a plus.
Strong knowledge of automotive repair procedures including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, suspension work, tire service, alignment, shocks & struts, air brake systems, diesel engine repair, and other automotive diagnostics.
Mechanical knowledge combined with experience in auto body repair and automotive diagnostics.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information effectively to clients.
Sales aptitude with experience in upselling vehicle services or automobile sales preferred.
Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and maintain detailed records.
Familiarity with automotive repair shop operations and management software is desirable.
Valid driver’s license preferred; must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a professional team dedicated to quality service and customer satisfaction within the automotive industry.
