Robotics / Automation Engineer (Process Engineering – Machining & Deburr)
Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Robotics/Automation Engineer with strong process engineering experience to develop, implement, and optimize automation solutions within a precision machining environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with deburr processes, CNC machining operations, robotics integration, and manufacturing process improvement. This role requires the ability to work independently, drive change across the organization, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance.
Experience within the Aerospace and Defense industry is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement robotic and automation systems to improve safety, quality, throughput, and operational efficiency.
- Lead automation projects from concept through implementation, validation, and production support.
- Analyze, optimize, and standardize manufacturing and deburr processes to improve productivity and reduce variation.
- Develop and improve automated work cells for machining, deburring, inspection, material handling, and secondary operations.
- Support CNC machining operations through process development, fixture design, tool optimization, and cycle-time reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Utilize CAD/CAM software to support automation, tooling, fixture design, and process development activities.
- Troubleshoot robotic systems, automation equipment, controls, and manufacturing processes to minimize downtime.
- Develop process documentation including work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, validation protocols, and standard operating procedures.
- Evaluate new technologies and automation opportunities to support strategic manufacturing objectives.
- Drive lean manufacturing, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support capital equipment justification, vendor selection, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, customer, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related technical field.
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on machining, automation, robotics, or process engineering.
- Experience supporting CNC machining operations and manufacturing process development.
- Knowledge of robotic automation systems, industrial controls, sensors, and machine integration.
- Experience with deburr processes and automation opportunities surrounding finishing operations.
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
- Ability to effectively influence change and drive process improvements across multiple functional groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and projects.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in a precision machining environment.
- Aerospace and Defense manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Mastercam and/or Siemens NX.
- Experience with CAD modeling, fixture design, and manufacturing process simulation.
- Knowledge of CNC programming, tooling, and machining best practices.
- Experience with industrial robots such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with PLCs, HMI systems, machine vision, and automated inspection systems.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement training/certification.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems and aerospace manufacturing requirements.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
