Job Overview

Tri-Town Youth Services, a private non-profit agency in Deep River, CT is seeking a dynamic Executive Director to lead our organization with passion, strategic insight, and a commitment to excellence. The chosen candidate will oversee all aspects of program development, staff supervision, and organizational management while fostering strong relationships with community partners, clients, and stakeholders. As the leader of our team, the Executive Director will drive growth, uphold organizational integrity, and champion innovative solutions to meet the needs of the youth and families we serve.

Job Description

I. Basic Functions of the Executive Director

Develop and/or administer all programs and services of the Bureau in accordance with the bylaws and policies of the Board of Directors and the Mission, Vision, and Values of the agency. Ensure that the Administrative Core Functions for Youth Services Bureaus are fulfilled according to the protocols and expectations established by the CT Department of Children and Families.
Facilitate and/or participate with community-based coalitions to address the behavioral health needs of youth and families; utilize established evidence-based theories and frameworks to formulate goals and objectives, develop comprehensive strategies, and direct the implementation and evaluation of enacted programs/services.
Conduct formal and informal community needs assessments pertaining to youth and families on a regular basis and collaborate with agency staff, the Board of Directors, municipal and school administrators and community stakeholders to develop and implement strategic plans that promote positive youth development, prevent or reduce risk, and provide diversion options for justice involved youth.
Keep abreast of professional and community resources, evidence-based practices, and attend professional meetings, trainings, and seminars.
Oversee, with Board assistance, a comprehensive fundraising strategy which includes direct mail appeals, online fundraising campaigns, grant writing (government, corporate and private foundations), and special events.

II. Responsibilities of the Executive Director

Maintain accountability to the Board of Directors, the Department of Children and Families, the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and the Towns of Chester, Deep River, and Essex.
Expand and enhance community and sector participation on coalitions/committees. Maintain interagency collaboration, i.e., schools, libraries, health departments, etc.
Provide oversight of all grant operations, including fiscal and personnel management. Prepare or review and submit grant applications and reports.
Coordinate and oversee the work of all paid staff, interns, and unpaid volunteers.
Conduct Annual Staff Performance Reviews. Hire and release staff in consultation with the Personnel Committee of the Board.
Collaborate with staff to maintain engaged public relations through web-based content, e-newsletters, mailings, print newsletters, annual reports, press releases, as well as public presentations.
Attend meetings of the Board and its committees in accordance with the Bylaws; collaborate on agenda setting, and assemble materials requested by the Board (with staff assistance).
Work within the budget established by the Finance Committee of the Board and make budget proposals for the upcoming year.

III. Minimum requirements

Master’s degree in human service-related discipline, e.g., Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration, Counseling, Education or Bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience; clinical licensure a plus, though not essential.
Prior experience in youth development and prevention theory and practice; experience with or knowledge of SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework.
Valid CT driver’s license and insured vehicle.
Employment contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

IV. Terms and benefits

Salaried position, $60,000-$75,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
Paid time off: 3 weeks vacation to start, increases at prescribed intervals; 10 holidays; 10 sick days; 3 bereavement days.
