Company Description

New Rise Renewables Reno is a refinery located just outside of Reno, Nevada, producing renewable diesel from vegetable oil feedstocks. Committed to creating jobs for the Reno/Sparks area, the company is dedicated to aiding the transition from traditional fossil fuels to greener, more sustainable fuel sources.

Position Overview:

The Outside Operator is a critical role within the facility, responsible for the safe and efficient monitoring and operation of facility assets, utilities, and process units. This position involves overseeing equipment performance, managing utility systems, and controlling process units to ensure optimal operational efficiency and safety. The Outside Operator will work closely with other operational staff to coordinate activities, address operational issues, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Startup processes by operating valves, adjusting handles, working overhead, observing display screens, and performing various tasks to ensure the product meets specified standards.
Conduct start-up and shutdown procedures for units following the facility’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Control Processes:

Use computerized control systems and manual valves to manage and regulate process and production activities.

Conduct Sampling and Testing:

Collect product samples and perform laboratory tests to measure chemical properties such as conductivity and pH.

Emergency Shutdown Procedures:

Execute emergency equipment shutdowns according to SOPs and recognize when such actions are necessary.

Routine Safety Inspections:

Carry out regular safety inspections as assigned, addressing or reporting hazards to management as needed.
Perform cleanup and housekeeping tasks in the assigned area using tools such as shovels and brooms.

Record Production Data:

Gather and record production data and process variables into electronic round sheets.

Inspect Machinery:

Conduct visual and physical inspections of on-site machinery and equipment twice per shift.
Notify the maintenance department or shift leader of any defects or issues with systems or machinery as soon as possible.

Manage Work Orders:

Enter work orders into the electronic maintenance tracking system.

Shift Handover:

Conduct shift turnover with the incoming operator in the control room.

Support Maintenance and Engineering:

Assist and collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering teams to resolve issues.

Perform Lockout/Tagout:

Implement Lockout/Tagout and isolation procedures for systems as required.

Perform Lockout/Tagout:

Support and help train other employees as requested.

Adhere to Company Principles:

Uphold the company’s principles of Safety, Compliance, Quality, Cost, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Additional Duties:

Perform other tasks as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role or setting.
Background Check: Clean background with no disqualifying offenses.
Drug Test: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Driver’s License: Valid Driver’s License.
Multitasking: Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
Aptitude Test: Ability to pass a company-issued aptitude test, if required.

Physical Requirements:

Physical stamina and strength to handle the demands of the role, including working in various environmental conditions.
