JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that manufacturing processes and products meet established quality standards and customer expectations. This position is responsible for developing and implementing quality control systems, analyzing production data, identifying areas for improvement, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. The Quality Engineer serves as a key liaison between production, engineering, and management to uphold compliance, reduce defects, and enhance overall product reliability.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / DUTIES:
- Review and disposition customer returns daily; ensure timely resolution and documentation
- Develop, implement, and sustain quality assurance procedures across manufacturing and assembly operations
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and external quality issues, including returned parts
- Prepare and present monthly PPM reports for both customer and internal metrics
- Conduct regular audits of production processes to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory standards
- Perform monthly audits of MQC (Control Plans), Inspection Standards (IS), and FMEAs to ensure accuracy and effectiveness
- Provide direct customer support through meetings, planning sessions, and documentation management
- Collaborate with production teams to support part manufacturing and resolve quality-related issues
- Analyze warranty parts upon request and support Warranty Quality Engineer in issue resolution
- Create inspection standards and address SQPR issues for service parts
- Report daily Kaizen activities and support continuous improvement initiatives on the plant floor
- Lead daily Strike Team meetings to drive resolution of open quality concerns
- Partner with engineering and production teams to improve product design, manufacturability, and defect prevention
- Support lab testing activities and assist Lab Technician as needed
- Lead Scrap Reduction Team efforts; identify and resolve top scrap drivers in collaboration with production
- Proactively submit and implement Continuous Improvement ideas to enhance quality and efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and one (1) or more year of experience in related field; an Associate’s degree in related discipline and three (3) or more years of experience in related field; or Non-Degreed with five (5) plus years’ experience in a related field.
- Experience working with Tier 1 OEMs and launching of new vehicle models is highly preferred.
- Experience with gauges and gauge makers.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, standards, and methodologies (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, Six Sigma, SPC).
- Experience with root cause analysis tools such as 8D, Fishbone, and FMEA
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software; experience with ERP systems preferred.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills and group presentations skills
- Effective professional writing skills to create high-quality reports, presentations, and e-mails.
