We're seeking a talented and driven Sous Chef who is ready to lead by example, inspire a high-performing culinary team, and help deliver an exceptional dining experience every day. Working alongside our Executive Chef, you'll play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of food quality, developing team members, and ensuring the kitchen operates with excellence, consistency, and efficiency.

What You'll Do

As Sous Chef, you'll work alongside the Executive Chef to lead daily kitchen operations, inspire the culinary team, and ensure every dish reflects the quality, consistency, and hospitality that define Emmaline's. You'll play a vital role in developing team members, maintaining operational excellence, and delivering exceptional dining experiences for every guest.

Leadership & Team Development

Lead, coach, and mentor line cooks, prep cooks, and other kitchen team members through hands-on leadership and daily support.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional kitchen culture built on accountability, respect, and teamwork.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and the ongoing development of culinary team members.
Lead by example through professionalism, strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to culinary excellence.
Partner with the Executive Chef to ensure clear communication and seamless kitchen operations.

Culinary Excellence

Oversee the preparation and execution of scratch-made menu items while ensuring exceptional quality, consistency, and presentation.
Maintain recipe, portion, and plating standards to deliver a consistently outstanding guest experience.
Assist with menu development, recipe testing, seasonal features, and culinary innovation.
Collaborate with the bar team to develop food and cocktail pairings that enhance the overall guest experience.
Continuously monitor food quality throughout service and address opportunities for improvement.

Operations & Organization

Assist with inventory management, purchasing, receiving, and product rotation to maintain proper stock levels and minimize waste.
Help manage food costs through portion control, inventory accuracy, and efficient product utilization.
Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organized, and operating efficiently at all times.
Maintain compliance with all health department regulations, food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and company policies.
Support scheduling, prep planning, and daily kitchen organization to maximize productivity.

Service Execution

Help lead breakfast, dinner, banquet, and special event service while maintaining composure in a fast-paced environment.
Coordinate with the front-of-house team to ensure timely, accurate, and seamless service.
Quickly identify and resolve operational challenges while maintaining high standards of quality and hospitality.
Create an environment where teamwork, communication, and attention to detail drive an exceptional dining experience for every guest.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a culinary leader who is passionate about developing others, committed to excellence, and dedicated to creating exceptional dining experiences.

Qualifications:

Minimum of two years of culinary leadership experience in a full-service restaurant, hotel, or upscale dining environment.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, kitchen operations, and best practices.
Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate a high-performing culinary team.
ServSafe Manager Certification preferred, or the ability to obtain certification shortly after hire.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with inventory management, ordering, food cost control, and waste reduction preferred.
Culinary degree or equivalent professional culinary experience is a plus.
Passion for hospitality, teamwork, continuous learning, and culinary innovation.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout scheduled shifts.
Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
