Estimator / Account Manager

About Us

Bagwell Fence is the leading commercial and industrial fencing, vehicular guardrail, and access control contractor in the Southeast, serving government agencies, industrial facilities, developers, and general contractors across South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia — from temporary construction fence to automated gates, ornamental iron, chain link, vehicular guardrail, and high-security perimeter solutions.

We are not the cheapest option; we are the preferred one, because we are organized, responsive, and we execute. We are adding a fourth person to our sales team, and we are being selective about who that is.

The Role

Most of the work finds us — RFPs, plan sets, and requests from an established customer base land on your desk every day. That loyalty is earned through consistent performance, not assumed, so part of the job is protecting it by converting steady volume into well-priced, well-documented work our crews can execute profitably. The other part is bringing real energy to developing new customers through that same standard of experience.

You will quote roughly 30 projects a month, anywhere from same-day closes to 18-month relationship builds, owning each one from first contact through submittal, special-order accuracy, and change-order resolution. Every decision turns into a crew day and a number on a P&L — that is the job, and why it rewards someone who does it with care.

A Typical Day

— Review plan sets, RFPs, and project specifications — build accurate, competitive quotes

— Manage 50–120 emails and work across multiple digital platforms in a well-managed workday

— Conduct digital site assessments using in person, satellite, and mapping tools

— Follow up consistently with customers across short and long sales cycles

— Produce submittal packages and manage special-order material requests with precision

— Navigate change orders — document them, communicate them, and hold the line professionally

What We Are Looking For

— Strong spatial reasoning — you can read a plan set and visualize what gets built

— High emotional intelligence — composure under pressure, patience with long cycles, professional conflict resolution

— Excellent written and verbal communication — your emails are clear, organized, and move things forward

— Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office proficiency — comfort learning new software quickly

— A self-starting work style — you manage your own time and do not need to be directed daily

— A genuine interest in growing customer relationships, not just managing the ones already in place

— Detail-orientation that extends past the sale — submittal errors and ordering mistakes have real consequences

Background That Fits

— Construction estimating, inside sales, or project coordination experience is a strong indicator

— Fencing, access control, or related trades knowledge is a plus — not a requirement

— Candidates from adjacent fields: MEP, civil, structural, landscaping contracting with digital workflow experience

— A recent degree in construction management, business, or project management is not required, but may be considered for the right profile

Compensation and Benefits

What we offer

— Base salary — bench-marked at the 99th percentile for this role in our market.

— After 6 months, you will join the Performance-based shared incentive bonus tied to team billed projects. This is significant and can increase compensation by 40-75%.

Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM · Friday, 7:30 AM – 2:00 PM
