About us

Mukogawa U.S. Campus is looking for a Full-time Advisor for the Student Life department!

Mukogawa University is a Japanese college located in Spokane, Washington's sister city of Nishinomiya, Japan. The Mukogawa U.S. Campus is a campus that offers the opportunity for students of Mukogawa University to come and study in the United States to be exposed to American culture and improve their English speaking skills. The campus is located on the historic Fort Wright property in Western Spokane. If you are interested in Japanese culture and want to work on a beautiful, historic campus then please apply today!

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Student Advisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting Japanese students throughout their academic journey, providing guidance on educational pathways, and fostering a positive learning environment. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to analyze student needs, and a passion for mentoring. This is a woman preferred position.

Responsibilities

● Will work closely with the Student Life Director and administrative staff.

Provide advising to students, helping them navigate their educational options and requirements, as well as emotional, behavioral, and personal matters.
Educate students on available resources, programs, and services that can enhance their academic experience.
Mentor students by offering support and encouragement throughout their studies.
Addressing personal concerns of homesickness, culture shock, and social issues.
Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff to foster collaboration and support student success.
Assist the Student Life Director (SLD) and SLD assistant with event planning and management when required.
Occasionally escort and/or assist students during student life activities on and off campus, some overnight travel may be required.

Experience

Proven experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
Background in education, administration, social work, communication, or related fields is highly desirable.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess student needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with diverse populations.
Experience in academic advising or mentoring is a plus.
Ability to interpret and utilize a variety of instructions.
Ability to request guidance as needed.
