Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8AM - 5PM, in an office environment with the availability of a flexible work schedule upon supervisor’s approval.
May require occasional travel (attending trainings and/or providing direct customer services in the field), but work is primarily conducted in the office. This position has a limited lifting requirement of less than 20lbs.

About this Position:
The Rehabilitation Technician 2 (RT2) position performs direct vocational rehabilitation services and administrative support functions as a member of an interdisciplinary work team providing services to blind & visually impaired individuals.
This position assists the integrated DSB Customer Services team in the agency’s goal of preparing customers for successful entry into the competitive workforce and towards greater independence.
The selected incumbent must often make independent judgments and apply knowledge of agency vocational rehabilitation and independent living processes, administrative policies and “good practices” while performing direct services and administrative support functions necessary for the successful vocational rehabilitation and improved independence of agency customers. The RT2 may be given responsibility for a small caseload of customers within the VR process. You will provide direct customer services and administrative support functions for the Spokane office caseloads as part of the East Region Customer Services Unit. This position may be assigned to a small caseload.
Some of What You will Enjoy Doing:

Serve as the point of first contact for individuals applying for blindness & visual impairment services with the
agency -
Orient the applicant to the services available and establish with customer expectations and responsibilities
of the customer and agency while enrolled in the program -
Participate in providing direct services throughout the customer process

Coordinate with external resources and service providers to facilitate best customer services and success
-
Perform a full range of administrative and fiscal tasks to ensure that the goods and services necessary to support the customer's independence and vocational needs are provided efficiently and timely
-
Maintain documentation of the customer record, data collection and entry, maintenance of case files, security of case records and order processing and purchase of essential goods and services
-
Ensure that mandated steps and timelines in the Vocational Rehab (VR) and Independent Living (IL) process are met by coordinating with counselors and team members
-
May schedule and conduct intake interview with new applicant and documents an initial assessment of the customer's medical, academic, social, and vocational history into the electronic case management system
-
Assist with agency Vocational Rehab conferences, workshops or trainings for DSB customers
-
Conduct individual and group program orientation to explain the goals, objectives, scope, and external state and federal requirements of the Vocational Rehabilitation program; the expectations and responsibilities of the customer; and the overall process and methods DSB employs to assist eligible customers in achieving their goal of employment

Refer individuals to other programs within the agency and/or service providers in the community as appropriate

Arrange for vocational evaluation tests and/or assist in the completion of "paper/pencil" vocational exploration instruments
-
Provide individual or group assistance to VR customers in exploring appropriate and realistic vocational goals
-
Assist in the planning, development, and on-going management & delivery of self-esteem and Job Club training, and other job seeking and job keeping activities
-
Assist with individual or group training in job search strategies, interview techniques, disclosing disability, personal presentation and grooming, resume preparation, and completion of applications
-
Provide information and resources regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
-
Coordinate with team members to deliver equipment and provide basic orientation for the customer to blindness & low vision aids and devices
-
Coordinate with external resources to arrange for items such as meeting space, interpreters, transportation
-
Provide follow up contact to ensure a satisfactory relationship between the customer and employer and to achieve job stabilization
-
Use automated case management system and other business applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel to document direct service activities and the vocational activities of the customer
-
Track customer data at referral; enter customer data into system at application; update customer data to keep current contact info; record activity with customers in case log; log receipt of reports, medical
documentation, and all correspondence in customer management system -
Collect medical and other pertinent vocational information; coordinate eye, medical and specialty examinations for the purpose of establishing eligibility & assessment by counseling staff

Complete and record compliance reviews at time of plan signing and at case closure

Enter and maintain data related to completed assistive technology services
-
Run next action reports and coordinate with appropriate team members for action to ensure case records are in compliance with federal reporting standards
-
Prepare correspondence and perform other clerical duties as required
Initiate and track authorizations to purchase customer goods and services -
Develop and maintain a system to monitor open authorizations, to ensure that goods, services and payments are being delivered timely

Develop and maintain system for efficient tracking of higher education tuition and supplies payments
-
Initiate payments on field orders and cancel as appropriate to ensure up-to-date budget information
-
Initiate customer reimbursement payments on A19 invoice vouchers or Reader/Driver/Tutor/Childcare form
-
Run outstanding encumbrance report to check on the status of payments
-
Develop and maintain system for closing authorizations with no activity
-
Maintain responsibility for accurate and appropriate VISA purchase usage
-
Collaborate with team members to manage assigned and unassigned inventory of supplies and equipment
-
Maintain inventory log of loaned equipment and document the issuance and return of equipment using equipment control forms
-
Prepare closed customer case files for archive on a regular basis and according to procedure and federal requirements
-
Collaborate with team members to maintain and organize office supplies
-
Provide coverage of front desk duties
-
Provide daily mail room tasks, distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail and packaging for Consolidated Mail Services

Manage office supply order needs
-
Staff customer cases and discuss procedural issues, budget and fiscal items, collaboration and process improvements

Review with team any work in progress and work completed
-
Tasks can include facilitation and note taking as needed

Coach and mentor new Rehabilitation Technicians and other team staff to the duties of the position, agency business practices, and the concept and culture of regional interdisciplinary work teams

Participate in agency process improvement projects or committee. This might include activities such as Safety Committee, Beautification Committee, input for Aware improvement, etc.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability through previous roles or education to meet the competencies below. Roles could be experience gained through military service, volunteer leadership, consulting, self-employment, previous roles in providing direct assistance to customers in a non-retail environment, rehabilitation classes or certifications, or non-traditional jobs.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience working with individuals who are blind, low vision or deaf blind or individuals with disabilities

Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a bachelor's degree with 18-quarter credit hours in vocational rehabilitation related subjects

Direct customer service experience in a vocational rehabilitation program
