The position coordinates the timely and organized deployment of Security personnel to incidents involving Spokane Transit's equipment and properties. Monitors cameras and reports illicit activity, disputes, or other matters involving the day-to-day safety and security of STA property, personnel, and the riding public to Transit Officers over radio and computer. In conjunction with security personnel and other STA staff, this role will use various technologies to ensure proper record keeping and reporting of incidents, accidents, exclusions, and other events pertinent to the security department. Work requires exercise of good judgment, making decisions within the limits of established policies, procedures, and guidelines, and provides excellent customer service. Duties are sedentary in nature and are performed in office working conditions. Position has access to security sensitive items and materials.
Ideal Candidate:
- Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, machines, and of business English and arithmetic.
- Knowledge of modern office management techniques.
- Ability to learn rapidly the activities, policies, and procedures related to the duties and responsibilities of the Security Department
- Ability to keep complex records, compose correspondence, and perform routine office management details independently.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; including Office 365, Word, Excel, etc.
- Ability to rapidly learn the activities, policies, and procedures of the Security Department; and applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and procedures.
Example of Duties:
- Clearly communicate with security staff through the use of various security technologies, including computer systems and radios, to ensure deployment to security incidents are being addressed in a timely manner.
- Monitor radio transmissions to ensure responses are acknowledged/handled; identify disruptions and initiate security responses.
- Contact security staff with any special circumstances or conditions affecting security problems.
- Monitor camera systems to ensure the patrons meet the parameters set forth in the board approved Spokane Transit Rules of Conduct.
- Monitor the general Security phone line to receive citizen reports of potential security incidents.
- Receives incoming calls/messages from security radio, phone, security direct app, and computer.
- Enter new security incidents into the Omnigo computer system then coordinate the deployment of security staff.
- Research and respond to inquiries from security staff regarding subject (patron) history and records.
- Contact appropriate law enforcement agencies, medical services, and/or Spokane Transit supervisory personnel in emergency situations.
- Stay current with ongoing changes in security and emergency response practices.
- Ensure safe work practices and procedures are followed and foster an environment where safety hazards are reported, and risks are mitigated to the lowest reasonable level practicable.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and maintain regular attendance in order to contribute individually to the efficient and effective delivery of transportation services to the public.
- Must be able to represent STA accurately and honestly in any legal proceedings that may result from the normal performance of the position.

Training & Experience
Two years of experience working and managing an office environment or related experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Physical Requirements
Essential functions require sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting; stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; operate office equipment including extensive use of a computer keyboard; push, pull, lift, and/or carry light amounts of weight. Vision sufficient to see in the normal visual range with or without correction; to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment. Hearing in the normal audio range with or without correction. Repetitive motions of wrist, hands and/or fingers. The sensory requirements for this position require you to be able to speak well enough to receive and provide detailed information through oral communication.

Starting wage of $25.83/hr (Wage range $25.83 – $34.62/hour) $2.00/hour shift differential for evening shift.
