Full Job Description

Summary of Functions

Reporting directly to the KLS Management, the Industrial Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the reliability, performance, and safety of all production and facility equipment within a high-volume commercial laundry operation. This role leads preventive maintenance initiatives, supports utility and boiler operations, manages equipment lifecycle needs, and ensures regulatory compliance to maintain continuous production and optimal customer service levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure full compliance with Tribal, State, and Federal health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to laundry operations.
Oversee maintenance and repair of all production and supporting equipment, including washers, dryers, conveyors, boilers, steam systems, hydraulics, and plumbing systems.
Perform and manage preventive maintenance programs utilizing Maintain X to maintain equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480V, mechanical systems, and automated production equipment.
Support efficient boiler operations and monitor utility consumption to control operating costs.
Purchase parts, equipment, and contracted services within approved budget parameters.
Assist with facility layout planning, equipment installation, and service center improvements to support operational efficiency.
Maintain ongoing communication with supervisors and management to align maintenance priorities with production demands.
Ensure proper chemical handling knowledge and compliance with associated hazard protocols.
Enforce exposure control procedures, particularly in soil sort and wash deck areas.
Maintain cleanliness and overall appearance of the service center and maintenance areas.
Protect company assets and ensure compliance with Kalispel Tribe of Indians Internal Controls and KTEA Policies and Procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Education

High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical training, certifications, or trade school education in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Systems, or Mechanical Systems preferred.

Experience

2–5 years of experience in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing or industrial production environment.
Demonstrated experience in: commercial laundry
Industrial equipment maintenance and repair
Electrical systems (including 480V)
Mechanical systems (conveyors, boilers, high and low-pressure steam systems, plumbing, hydraulics)
Preventive maintenance systems (CMMS experience preferred)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance documentation.
Skilled in solving practical problems in high-demand production environments.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain proactive, flexible, and composed in high-pressure, multi-tasking situations.
Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Other Requirements

Ability to obtain and maintain a Kalispel Work Permit.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Hepatitis A & B vaccinations required.
Consistent and reliable attendance record.
Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules based on operational needs.

Physical Demands

The physical demands listed below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally.
Frequent walking throughout the facility while carrying tools and equipment.
Repetitive hand and wrist movements.
Frequent verbal communication and auditory discrimination in high-noise environments.
Occasional stooping, crouching, climbing, and working above or beneath equipment.
Exposure to hot, wet, noisy environments and confined spaces.
Close, distance, and color vision required.

Work Environment

This position operates within a high-volume industrial laundry facility. Team members are routinely exposed to steam systems under pressure, industrial chemicals, confined spaces, elevated work areas, and moving mechanical equipment. Strict adherence to safety protocols and personal protective equipment requirements is mandatory.
