Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, highly professional, and dependable School Director to lead the daily operations of our premium early childhood education center.

The ideal candidate will be an organized and hands-on leader who can maintain smooth school operations, support and hold staff accountable, communicate professionally with families, and ensure the highest standards of child safety, education, customer service, and regulatory compliance.

We are looking for someone who takes complete ownership of the school’s daily operations and consistently follows through on responsibilities. This position requires strong leadership, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.

Key ResponsibilitiesSchool Operations and Leadership

Oversee the daily operations of the school and ensure classrooms, staffing, schedules, and administrative functions operate smoothly.
Maintain a professional, welcoming, organized, and positive school environment.
Assist teachers and administrative staff with daily operational needs and resolve issues promptly.
Conduct daily walkthroughs to monitor classroom quality, cleanliness, supervision, teacher engagement, and compliance.
Ensure opening, closing, staffing, transportation, meal-service, and classroom procedures are consistently followed.
Communicate regularly with ownership regarding enrollment, staffing, licensing, parent concerns, accounts receivable, and operational priorities.
Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate excellent professional judgment at all times.

Staff Leadership and Accountability

Supervise, coach, train, and support teachers and administrative employees.
Prepare and manage staff schedules while maintaining required child-to-caregiver ratios.
Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, professionalism, classroom performance, and completion of assigned duties.
Conduct staff meetings, classroom observations, coaching conversations, and performance evaluations.
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and retaining qualified employees.
Address employee concerns and performance issues promptly, fairly, and professionally.
Promote teamwork, accountability, respectful communication, and a positive workplace culture.

Parent Communication and Customer Service

Build strong, professional relationships with current and prospective families.
Respond promptly and respectfully to parent questions, concerns, and complaints.
Ensure parents receive clear and accurate communication regarding classroom activities, incidents, policies, tuition, schedules, and school events.
Conduct school tours and effectively communicate the value of the school’s curriculum, programs, teachers, and premium childcare experience.
Follow up with prospective families and support enrollment and retention goals.
Handle sensitive parent situations calmly and professionally while documenting important communications.

Child Safety and Program Quality

Make child health, safety, supervision, and well-being the school’s highest priorities.
Ensure teachers follow proper supervision, ratio, transition, playground, transportation, attendance, and release procedures.
Review and manage incident, illness, medication, behavior, and parent-notification documentation.
Immediately address and escalate safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, licensing concerns, and serious incidents.
Support age-appropriate curriculum implementation and high-quality classroom experiences.
Ensure classrooms provide nurturing, engaging, clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate learning environments.

Licensing, Minimum Standards, and TRS Compliance

Maintain strong working knowledge of Texas Child Care Regulation Minimum Standards and licensing requirements.
Prepare the school for licensing inspections, Texas Rising Star assessments, franchise reviews, and other compliance visits.
Maintain complete and accurate child, employee, training, transportation, health, and licensing records.
Monitor staff training hours, certifications, background checks, orientation requirements, and professional-development plans.
Understand Texas Rising Star requirements and ensure staff complete required TRS-related training and documentation.
Develop and monitor corrective-action plans when compliance concerns are identified.
Ensure licensing notifications, postings, reports, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.

Procare, Billing, and Administrative Management

Use Procare to manage enrollment, attendance, family accounts, billing, payments, child records, staff records, and parent communication.
Review tuition accounts, outstanding balances, subsidy payments, copayments, credits, discounts, and payment arrangements.
Communicate professionally with families regarding balances and payment expectations.
Monitor accounts receivable and follow established collection procedures.
Ensure enrollment agreements, tuition rates, discounts, schedules, and family account information are entered accurately.
Maintain accurate records and provide regular operational and financial updates to ownership.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of three years of leadership or management experience in a licensed childcare center, preschool, or early education program.
Previous experience as a Childcare Director, Assistant Director, Curriculum Director, or similar leadership position.
Experience working in a premium, high-quality, or franchise childcare environment strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of Texas Child Care Regulation Minimum Standards and childcare licensing requirements.
Familiarity with Texas Rising Star standards, assessments, and training requirements.
Experience using Procare for childcare management, billing, attendance, enrollment, and parent communication.
Demonstrated experience supervising staff, managing schedules, maintaining ratios, and addressing performance concerns.
Strong knowledge of childcare billing, tuition collection, family accounts, and administrative recordkeeping.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational, documentation, follow-through, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-oriented during difficult situations.
Must meet all Texas licensing requirements for a childcare center director.
Must successfully complete required background checks and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Director’s Credential or advanced early childhood education credential.
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience with Texas Rising Star at a certified childcare center.
Experience increasing enrollment, conducting tours, improving family retention, and strengthening customer service.
Experience managing a center with more than 100 enrolled children and a large teaching team.
Familiarity with subsidy programs and childcare assistance billing.
