Full Job Description

Job Summary:
The Physician Referral Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining referral relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, clinics, hospitals, and community healthcare partners within the assigned Houston territory. This role will support BBI’s growth by educating providers and office staff about BBI’s programs, services, patient pathways, and the medical conditions treated by BBI.

This is a field-based business development role focused on building strong provider relationships, increasing appropriate patient referrals, supporting smooth referral workflows, and representing BBI professionally in the Houston healthcare community.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with targeted physicians, practices, hospitals, and healthcare organizations to support referral development and retention.

· Identify, segment, and prioritize target accounts based on referral opportunity, specialty alignment, geography, competitive activity, and growth potential.

· Schedule and conduct meetings with providers and office staff to educate them on BBI services, patient benefits, referral processes, and available treatment pathways.

· Coordinate and support compliant provider-facing educational activities, including in-services, lunch-and-learns, office trainings, and approved networking opportunities.

· Track all provider interactions, call notes, follow-up actions, referral trends, and outcomes in the CRM system.

· Partner with clinical, scheduling, marketing, and operations teams to ensure a smooth referral experience for providers and patients.

· Support onboarding for new referring practices by helping them understand referral workflows, communication processes, and points of contact.

· Monitor competitor activity and market trends within the assigned territory and share relevant insights with leadership.

· Represent BBI at approved community and healthcare events, including health fairs, senior living events, and other local outreach opportunities as needed.

· Ensure all outreach and promotional activities comply with HIPAA, Stark, Anti-Kickback regulations, and BBI’s internal compliance standards.

Qualifications:

Education

· Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, healthcare administration, life sciences, nursing, or a related field preferred.

· Equivalent healthcare sales, physician outreach, or business development experience will be considered.

Experience

· Minimum of 2 years of successful outside sales, physician relations, medical device, pharmaceutical, healthcare services, or related healthcare business development experience.

· Prior experience calling on physician offices, clinics, hospitals, or healthcare systems strongly preferred.

· Proven ability to meet or exceed sales, referral development, or business growth goals.

· Experience with territory planning, account management, and CRM documentation.

Knowledge and Skills

· Strong understanding of the healthcare landscape, referral patterns, physician specialties, and outpatient clinical pathways.

· Ability to clearly communicate the clinical and patient value of BBI’s services to providers and office staff.

· Strong presentation skills and confidence in one-on-one and group settings.

· Excellent relationship-building, follow-up, and communication skills.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a field-based territory independently.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM or similar software platforms.

Additional Requirements

· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel daily within the assigned Houston territory.

· Reliable transportation required.

· Must pass background check and meet any applicable credentialing standards for access to medical offices, hospitals, and healthcare facilities.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
