About AMP Lighting
AMP Lighting is a leading designer, manufacturer, and distributor of professional-grade landscape, outdoor, sound, and security lighting products headquartered in Lutz, Florida. AMP serves a nationwide network of authorized lighting professionals (AMP Pros) through a factory-direct model built on fast shipping, the industry's largest inventory, hassle-free lifetime warranties, and contractor-protected pricing. Our product portfolio includes advanced landscape fixtures, a full ecosystem of transformers, lamps, connectors, wire, and accessories, the AMP SECURE line of security lighting, AMP Symphony outdoor audio, and the AMP iQ smart lighting platform.
Position Summary
The Key Account Manager is a hybrid inside/outside sales role responsible for owning and growing AMP Lighting's most valuable contractor relationships. The Key Account Manager works in conjunction with Customer Success Associates, who handle day-to-day sales and support tasks - order entry, stock checks, shipping updates, and routine inquiries. This structure frees the Key Account Manager to focus on strategic growth: deepening product penetration within top-tier AMP Pros, recruiting large landscape lighting professionals nationally, capturing voice-of-the-customer insights for product development and service improvements, coordinating new product test installations, attending trade shows, visiting job sites to support Pros and identify opportunities, and assisting in Pro training.
Key Responsibilities
Top Pro Account Growth & Penetration
· Own a portfolio of AMP's highest-value AMP Pros, serving as the dedicated account manager across both inside (phone, email, video) and outside (field visit, job site, event) touchpoints.
· Drive organic revenue growth by deepening product penetration across the full AMP portfolio - landscape fixtures, AMP SECURE, Symphony, iQ, transformers, wire, lamps, audio, and accessories.
· Develop and execute account growth plans that identify whitespace: product categories not yet adopted, competitive products being purchased elsewhere, and job types AMP can better serve.
· Coordinate closely with Customer Success Associates who manage day-to-day order processing and transactional support, ensuring top Pros receive both strategic attention and responsive daily service.
National Pro Recruitment
· Identify and target large landscape lighting professionals nationally who are not yet authorized AMP Pros - companies doing significant volume with competitors that represent meaningful conversion opportunities.
· Build a compelling case for AMP through direct outreach, referrals, and industry events - leveraging factory-direct pricing, lifetime warranty, product breadth, and AMP Pro program benefits.
· Manage the recruitment pipeline from initial contact through authorization, first order, and onboarding, including assignment of a dedicated Customer Success Associate for day-to-day support.
Voice of the Customer & Product Development
· Serve as AMP's primary channel for voice-of-the-customer intelligence from top Pros - systematically gathering feedback on product performance, feature requests, competitive comparisons, and unmet needs.
· Capture and document field insights in a structured, actionable format for Product Development, Engineering, and Leadership.
· Advocate for the Pro's perspective during product development discussions, new product planning sessions, and service improvement initiatives.
New Product Test Installations & Field Validation
· Coordinate test installations of new products with selected top Pros to validate designs, verify real-world performance, and surface installation challenges before full market launch.
· Document the installation process - what works, what needs refinement, what instructions are unclear - and compile detailed reports with photos, Pro feedback, and recommended modifications for Product Development and Engineering.
· Build a network of trusted Pros who are willing participants in AMP's product validation process, creating a standing bench that can be activated for future launches.
Field Visits, Installation Support & Training
· Conduct regular job site visits to observe AMP products being installed in real-world conditions, provide hands-on tips and best practices, and identify product or process opportunities.
· Assist in the development and delivery of Pro training programs - both in-person (AMP training facility, trade events, job sites) and virtual (webinars, product launch training) - leveraging field-earned credibility and real-world application expertise.
· Provide feedback to the training team on knowledge gaps observed in the field, helping shape content that addresses actual Pro needs.
Trade Shows & Brand Building
· Represent AMP Lighting at national and regional industry trade shows, conferences, and partner events (e.g., Techobloc, Equip Expo, NALP, HNA, etc.) to deepen relationships with existing top Pros, recruit new high-potential Pros, and build brand awareness.
· Conduct live product demonstrations and lead educational sessions that showcase AMP's technical advantages, product breadth, and Pro program value.
CRM Management & Reporting
· Maintain detailed records in HubSpot for all key accounts - contact information, purchase history, account plans, VOC feedback, field visit notes, test installation results, and pipeline activity.
· Report on key account revenue performance, penetration metrics, new Pro recruitment pipeline, and field activity to senior leadership on a regular cadence.
Qualifications
Required
· Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Horticulture, or a related field.
· 3-5+ years of outside sales, key account management, or territory management experience in a B2B environment - ideally blending inside and outside selling responsibilities.
· Proven track record of growing revenue within existing accounts through deeper product penetration and relationship development.
· Experience prospecting and recruiting new accounts or partners at a national level.
· Strong technical aptitude with the ability to discuss product specifications, installation techniques, and system design with professional contractors.
· Exceptional relationship-building skills - the ability to earn trust with experienced tradespeople who value competence and straight talk.
· Proficiency in CRM systems (HubSpot preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Willingness to travel up to 35-50% for job site visits, Pro visits, trade shows, training events, and HQ meetings. Valid driver's license required.
Preferred
· Experience in the landscape lighting, outdoor lighting, electrical, irrigation, or hardscape industries.
· Working knowledge of low-voltage lighting systems, including transformers, voltage drop, wire sizing, and fixture installation.
· Established network within the professional landscape contractor community.
· Experience coordinating product testing, beta programs, or field trials with end users.
· Background in training delivery - comfortable presenting to groups of contractors in classroom, job site, and trade show settings.
· Familiarity with the competitive landscape (FX Luminaire, Kichler, WAC, Unique, Cast, Vista) and how AMP differentiates.
Compensation & Benefits
· Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus tied to revenue targets and profitability.
· Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
· 401(k) with company match.
· Paid time off, holidays, and flexible work arrangements.
· Travel expense reimbursement.
· Industry trade show attendance and professional development.
· High-impact role with significant upside in a growing company expanding its key account program.
