Full Job Description

Aloft Houston Shenandoah is seeking an experienced, hands-on Hotel General Manager to lead our 116-room Marriott-branded property. The ideal candidate will be an energetic hospitality professional with strong operational, financial, sales and team-leadership experience.

This position is responsible for the overall performance of the hotel, including guest satisfaction, financial results, Marriott brand compliance, associate development, sales execution and the daily operation of all departments.

Key Responsibilities

Provide daily leadership and oversight for hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, maintenance, sales and food and beverage.
Recruit, train, coach and retain a professional, guest-focused hotel team.
Maintain compliance with Marriott brand standards, quality-assurance requirements and operating procedures.
Monitor guest feedback and ensure service concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
Prepare and manage the hotel’s budget, forecasts, labor expenses and operating costs.
Review occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, STR performance and other key operating measurements.
Work closely with the revenue and sales teams to increase occupancy, market share and profitability.
Maintain accurate payroll, purchasing, accounts-payable and financial controls.
Oversee preventive maintenance, safety, security and life-safety compliance.
Build productive relationships with ownership, vendors, Marriott representatives and the local business community.
Lead by example and remain visible and actively involved throughout the property.

Qualifications

At least three years of hotel leadership experience; prior General Manager or Assistant General Manager experience strongly preferred.
Marriott-branded hotel experience strongly preferred.
Experience managing a hotel of approximately 100 rooms or more.
Strong knowledge of hotel financial statements, budgeting, forecasting and labor management.
Experience with Marriott systems, brand standards and quality-assurance processes is highly desirable.
Strong written, verbal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lead multiple departments and respond effectively to operational issues.
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays when hotel operations require it.
Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business or a related field is preferred; comparable hotel-management experience will be considered.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range is $50,000–$95,000 annually. The final salary will be based on the candidate’s hotel leadership experience, Marriott brand knowledge, financial-management background and overall qualifications.
