Position Overview:
The Unit Growth Executive is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact by bringing Scouting to communities that have never had access to the program. Through a dedicated grant initiative, this position will focus on establishing new Cub Scout Packs and Scouts BSA Troops, recruiting youth and volunteers, and developing strong community partnerships that create sustainable Scouting opportunities for local families. This position is ideal for a motivated, relationship-driven professional who is passionate about youth development, community engagement, sales, and nonprofit growth.
For more than 115 years, Scouting America has helped young people develop character, leadership, and life skills through fun, adventure, and service. The Las Vegas Area Council is committed to expanding access to these life-changing programs for youth and families throughout Southern Nevada.
Position Concept:
Fill Scouting deserts in the Las Vegas Area Council by launching new Packs and Troops in underserved and emerging communities throughout Southern Nevada and Western Arizona. This grant-funded position will identify new opportunities for Scouting, recruit community partners, organize new Packs and Troops, and support the successful launch and sustainability of newly established units.
Success in this role will be measured through new unit development, youth recruitment, volunteer engagement, and the ability to create long-term Scouting opportunities for families across Southern Nevada.
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Field Services.
Responsibilities:
· Establish new Cub Scout Packs and Scouts BSA Troops throughout the Las Vegas Area Council.
· Identify communities, schools, faith-based organizations, and community groups where Scouting can expand and serve more youth.
· Develop relationships with prospective chartered organization partners and community stakeholders.
· Recruit and support volunteer leaders responsible for delivering quality Scouting programs.
· Plan and execute youth recruitment campaigns, school talks, community events, and membership drives.
· Convert prospective families and youth leads into registered Scouts through personalized outreach and engagement.
· Collaborate with volunteers, commissioners, and council staff to ensure successful launches of newly organized units.
· Assist other professional staff in the development of new units with annual planning, membership growth strategies, and long-term sustainability.
· Monitor unit growth, membership retention, and volunteer development within assigned areas.
· Maintain accurate records and regularly report progress toward grant objectives and council growth goals.
· Represent Scouting America at community events, civic meetings, schools, and partner organizations.
· Support council activities, fundraising initiatives, and special events as needed.

· Experience in Scouting, education, nonprofit organizations, community outreach, or membership growth is preferred but not required.
Education:
· Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (transcript with the date degree conferred stated is required for employment).
· Equivalent professional experience in sales, marketing, business development, nonprofit management, or community engagement may be considered.
Requirements
· Must be willing to accept and meet Scouting America’s leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.
· Ability to work evenings and weekends to support recruitment events, community meetings, and volunteer training.
· Must be 21 years of age or older unless prohibited by applicable law.
· Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

The Las Vegas Area Council reimburses cell phone expenses $50 per month and business mileage at $.725 a mile monthly (or the current IRS rate). Additionally, a generous vacation policy and holiday observances in offered.
Salary: $48,000 with annual performance-based raises.
