Team Member, Back of House

Pay: $17 / hour

Team Members are responsible for providing an exceptional dining experience for everyone they serve each day and for ensuring all guests receive signature Chick-fil-A service and food.

About the Role:

As a Back of House Team Member, you are the engine of our restaurant. You'll work in a fast-paced kitchen environment preparing, cooking, and assembling the food that goes out to every guest. Accuracy, speed, food safety, and consistency are at the heart of what you do. If you take pride in craftsmanship, work well under pressure, and want to be part of a tight-knit team that has each other's backs during the rush, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

Prepare, cook, and assemble menu items to Chick-fil-A's exact specifications and quality standards
Operate kitchen equipment safely, including pressure fryers, grills, breading stations, and prep tools
Bread, marinate, and cook chicken to precise temperature and timing standards
Build sandwiches, salads, wraps, and sides accurately and efficiently during high-volume rushes
Stock and maintain prep stations, ensuring all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and ready for service
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP protocols, including proper handwashing, glove use, and temperature monitoring
Keep the kitchen, walk-ins, freezers, and prep areas clean, organized, and inspection-ready throughout your shift
Receive and put away truck deliveries, rotating stock using FIFO (first-in, first-out) standards
Take out trash, break down boxes, and complete end-of-shift cleaning duties
Communicate clearly with Front of House teammates to keep order flow smooth and accurate during peak hours
Live out all of the Chick-fil-A and restaurant specific standards: quality, cleanliness, and care in every order

How Your Hours Will Work

Shifts are assigned based on the availability you share with us and the needs of the business. We aim to keep schedules largely consistent week to week, though specific shifts may vary.

Front of House shifts at Chick-fil-A Nanuet generally fall into one of five blocks:

Opening shifts start between 5:30 AM and 7:30 AM and end in the early-to-mid afternoon, covering breakfast service and lunch rush preparation.
Mid-morning shifts start between 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM and run into the afternoon, supporting the lunch rush.
Midday shifts start between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM and bridge the lunch and dinner periods.
Afternoon shifts start between 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM and cover the dinner rush into the evening.
Closing shifts start between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM and run through store close. The latest scheduled end time is 11:00 PM, with most closing shifts ending between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM. End-of-day responsibilities include cleaning, restocking, and shutdown procedures.

Most shifts run 4 to 8 hours. Schedules are posted weekly, and we ask Team Members to be available for a consistent set of shift blocks rather than scattered single hours.

The number of hours you receive may be influenced by:

Reliability — your attendance and punctuality
Versatility — your ability to work multiple positions and stations
Consistency — how well you execute the standards and expectations of each station

New Team Members typically receive extra hours early on to support training. During onboarding, a single day may include both a training block and a working block, and you'll learn stations such as Register, Drinks, Desserts, Expo, and other stations, before working independently. Hours adjust as you grow into the role.

And remember — Chick-fil-A Nanuet is closed every Sunday. A guaranteed day of rest for the entire team.

Qualifications

Required:

Must be at least 18 years of age
Legally authorized to work in the United States
High school diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in high school
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours) and remain on your feet during peak service
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive motions (bending, reaching, carrying, lifting)
Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment with frequent interruptions
Comfortable working around fryers, grills, hot oil, and sharp tools while following safety protocols
Reliable transportation to and from the restaurant
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (closed Sundays)

Preferred:

6+ months of kitchen, food prep, or food service experience a plus
ServSafe or food handler's certification a plus
Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment a plus
Bilingual abilities (English, Spanish, or other languages a plus)
Prior experience in a team-based environment
