Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Concrete Superintendent oversees all aspects of concrete construction projects, manage crews, schedules, and quality to ensure the projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations, including concrete placement, finishing, formwork, and reinforcement installation, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
Understand and apply the requirements in project documents about quality control procedures such as testing, shop drawings, material approvals, samples, mockups, execution of the work, etc.
Become familiar with each job estimate for general condition items and follow the direction of the Field Operations Manager about performing work within the boundaries of the estimate.
Keep the Field Operations Manager apprised of any change in activity or cost before incurring additional time or materials outside the project scope.
Provide input on scheduling and placement of production crews. Plan and review the construction project weekly with the Field Operations Manager and Project Manager. Supervise the scheduling and completion of warranty issues.
Assist the field operations manager in preparing progress schedules, keeping them correctly updated, and ensuring that everything feasible is done for the project to meet the required dates.
Support the Field Operations Manager in ensuring timely on-site delivery of materials and equipment furnished by the Company and subcontractors.
Direct and train the foremen and field staff to ensure continued development by using performance evaluations, varying assignments, and promoting positive project morale.
Work with the Field Operations Manager to establish and maintain good safety and security practices for the entire project in accordance with applicable safety codes and regulations.
Develop final punch lists and ensure all project tasks are completed, and the project is closed out expediently.
Coordinate the acceptance of improvements from municipalities and agencies.
Inspecting completed work for quality, identifying defects, and implementing corrective actions
Arrange for the proper sequencing or work to minimize overall durations, rework, and conflicts.
Build and maintain relationships with municipalities, agencies, and trade partners.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

3 + years’ experience as a Construction Superintendent, General Foreman or other field leadership role.
High School Diploma or GED required.
OSHA 10-hour (preferred, not required), OSHA 30-hour, HAZWOPER certificate.
Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, First Aid
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, reports, construction plans, specifications, and legal documents.
Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, iPad, iPhone
Ability to effectively communicate orally and written with employees and other business associates regarding project needs and scheduling
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Topcon GPS or equal experience preferred.
Must understand work directions and communicate effectively with management and employees
Ability to supervise earthwork/site utility construction projects from general plan and instructions and to determine the proper amounts of materials, tools, and personal equipment needed.
Must be able to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Able to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physical work for long periods
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work.

Working Conditions

Outdoor construction sites with uneven ground
Fast-paced, physical work environment
Exposure to noise, dust, and heavy equipment

Schedule

Must be able to work 8 to 10-hour workdays, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required based on business needs.
