Better Numbers is a remote firm that specializes in bookkeeping, tax preparation and planning, and advisory services for growth-minded entrepreneurs. Our goal is to empower entrepreneurs to move their businesses forward.

Accurately prepare individual (Form 1040) and business tax returns (Form 1120S, Form 1065)

What you need to succeed:

Align with our core values
Highly organized
You can deliver spectacular customer service, you have great communication skills and you are able to easily explain difficult concepts
You have at least 5 years of tax preparation experience in a public accounting firm
Tech-savvy and proficient in ProConnect Tax Online or Lacerte and Karbon (required)
Skilled problem solver with strong attention to detail
Effective communicator through video platforms like Zoom and Loom

Production-based pay - get paid for outcomes, not for time. You'll be paid 15% of each client's tax preparation fee for returns you complete. Our fees are higher than industry average.
Grow your income and opportunities. You'll start with tax returns for this season and there's opportunity to earn additional income via tax advisory services throughout the course of the year.
No time tracking. We don’t track time nor do we bill by the hour. Ever.

What you can expect from the hiring process:

Provide a copy of your resume
Connect with Chris Hervochon on LinkedIn. Please note, candidates that skip this step will not be considered. If you're already connected to Chris, please note that in your application.
If your background and experience appear to be a fit, we will invite you to complete a skills assessment. The assessments will take about 30 minutes to complete and you will be compensated $50 if you complete it.
Interview with the owner of the firm. Learn about the firm and make sure we’re a good fit! We’ll ask questions about you, your work experience, your bona fides, and may even throw in some technical questions. You’ll then have a chance to ask any questions you may have – so be sure to have some ready!
Complete a Kolbe personality assessment (to make sure the firm and the role are a good fit).
Provide 3 professional references (so we can check all the boxes).
Pass a background check.
If you're a good fit, you will meet with the owner of the firm to receive an offer and to learn about the particulars of the role and the firm.
An intentional onboarding and orientation process to learn how and why we do what we do.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Projected Total Compensation: $30,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
