POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for performing routine diagnostic imaging procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist and/or Radiology leadership. Support the mission, vision, and values of the Southeast Colorado Hospital District. This position ensures high-quality imaging services while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality. The Radiology Technician Level I operates imaging equipment, prepares patients for procedures, follows established protocols, and adheres to all regulatory and safety standards. This role supports the delivery of timely and accurate diagnostic information to assist in patient care and treatment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews patient history initiates Computed Tomography images based on physician order and prioritize procedural patient education to ensure mutual understanding and cooperation
- Safely administers contrast media or associated imaging medications while monitoring patient condition
- Responds and reports changes in patient conditions as appropriate
- Implement techniques to yield clarity in image, quality control and equipment functionality based on established best practices in Radiology (AART).
- Perform timely and quality radiology procedures for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician
- Properly record patient information and maintain EMR
- Perform quality control checks/audits on radiologic equipment
- May assist in patient care if needed
- Set up and operate the equipment to produce standard and special radiographs of portions of the body for purposes of diagnosis and treatment.
- To be accessible to patients and other personnel when testing is being performed.
- Perform X-ray and CAT scan examinations in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.
- Schedule patients for x-ray examinations; set up and explain x-ray procedures; position patients for each anatomical view specified using immobilization and protective devices as required; report any changes in patient's condition to attending physician.
- Maintains patient files ensuring examinations performed are read by radiologist and report is filed.
- Ensure exams are archived properly so they are accessible for patient and comparison studies.
- Assist in the formulation and revision of technique charts to maintain established standards of radiographic contrast and density.
- Take calls nights, weekdays, weekends, holidays, etc. and assist in assuring that the Radiology Department is covered by a technologist when emergencies or illnesses arise.
- Orient new employees.
- Attends meetings and in-service sessions, as directed.
- Requires regular attendance and punctuality.
- Performs other assigned duties.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a degree from an accredited school for Radiology Technology
- Must have a current ARRT and license in accordance to state regulations
- Registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) and registered, and or registry eligible with completion of registry in 12 months in computed tomography (CT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- State licensure if required by law
- BLS through the American Red Cross Association or American Heart Association (CPR)

- Must be able to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively with teams and leadership while demonstrating a high level of integrity, sound judgment, and attention to detail. This role requires professionalism in all interactions with employees, patients, and the public, along with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all SECHD, state, and federal policies and regulations. Adherence to HIPAA.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a professional and compassionate demeanor. Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software systems are required. Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations. Dependability, initiative, and the ability to see tasks through to completion are critical, as is a commitment to safety, quality, and working under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.
